Symbols of Fortune Gatefold Card

Today I am creating with the new Symbols of Fortune Suite from Stampin’ Up!  When I first saw the Designer Series Paper in the new January – June mini catalog I just knew I wanted it but then when it arrived it was even prettier than it looked in the book.  My number one issue with Designer Series Paper that is beautiful is I hate to cut it but cut it I did. I found inspiration for this card from one that Denise Cox had created and I just started to cut.

Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Evening Evergreen cardstock that is cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 2 1/8” and 6 3/8”.  This makes the base for your gatefold card.  Then I cut the Symbols of Fortune Designer Series paper to 1 7/8 x 5 ¼” (x2) and added them onto my card base.  I cut a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock to 3 ¼ x 4 ½” (set aside).  I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 3 x 4 ¼” and I added the stitched leaves by using the Stitched Greenery Die.  Once it was die cut (well the stitching was) I used a dauber and added some Calypso Coral ink to the center where I was going to add my focal point.  I attached this to the Calypso Coral cardstock and added it to the card base being sure to only adhere one side so the card could be opened.

For my focal point I grabbed another piece of the Designer Series Paper and the die from the Crane of Fortune bundle that coordinated with it and I cut out my flowers (yes you read that right the die cuts the flowers out of the paper, no fussy cutting needed).  I then stamped my sentiment from the stamp set in the Crane of Fortune Bundle that reads “Sending a thousand well-wishes on your special day” onto a scrap piece of Basic White cardstock that measured 1 1/8 x 2 ¼” using Evening Evergreen ink.  I stamped that same sentiment onto a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock that was 3 ¼” long using Versamark ink and then added White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat set it using my Heat Tool.  I cut the words “A THOUSAND WELL-WISHES” out using my snips and flagged the right side and attached it over the white sentiment I stamped previously creating a two-tone sentiment.  Now to put it all together.  Add the die cut flower to the center of the card using Dimensionals, attach the sentiment over that.  To finish off the front of the card I added one Opal Round and two Brushed Brass Butterflies.

For the inside of the card, I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼” and stamped the flower from the Crane of Fortune bundle onto the corner using Calypso Coral Ink.

I hope you enjoy this card I certainly enjoyed making it.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and much more on my website at https://craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by click the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.
