FUN WITH TEMPLATES

Today’s card features the Fern & Flora Bundle and the Moonlit Flora Designer Series Paper.  I fell in love with this suite the first time I saw it so you will be seeing lots of projects using it.  I also have discovered all the amazing templates or card layouts out there, especially on Pinterest so I have been challenging myself to use them and to even use them in more ways than one.  So today I did just that I created a card using a template I found on YouTube shared by Jackie Bolhuis.  Here is what I came up with and what the template looked like…

The card base is Berry Burst cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  I added a layer of the Moonlit Flora Designer Series Paper that measured 4 x 5 ¼” and then another layer of the DSP cut to 1 ¾ x 5” and cut into a banner.  This was added on the left side of the card about ¼” from the edge of the first DSP layer.

Next, I went to work on my focal layer.  I cut a mat from Soft Sea Foam cardstock that measured 2 3/8 x 3 7/8”, to this I added another layer of the DSP this time 2 ¼ x 3 ¾”.  I die cut several pieces from the dies in the bundle just using scrap cardstock.  First I cut the large fern out of Soft Sea Foam cardstock, then the fiddlehead fern out of Peaceful Pine cardstock, I cut three flowers out of Basic White cardstock and three flower centers out of Daffodil Delight cardstock.  To add additional interest, I watercolored my fern using Peaceful Pine Ink and a Water Painter adding the color just to the center.  I did the same thing with my flowers and added Berry Burst Ink to the centers using that same Water Painter.

Now for the sentiment I did change the placement shown on the template just a bit and used one of the dies from the bundle instead of a circle.  I stamped the sentiment “Thankful for you” and the outline of the label from the bundle onto a scrap of Berry Burst cardstock using Secret Sea Ink and die cut it.  I added my ferns to my focal layer then added my sentiment over the bottom of them and added the three flowers.  To finish off the card I added a Linen Thread bow that I attached using a Mini Glue Dot and three gems.  For the gems I used the Rhinestone Basic Jewels and colored them with my Berry Burst Stampin’ Blend Marker.  You can do this with any of the markers to create gems the perfect color for your project.

I hope you enjoy this card I certainly enjoyed making it.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and more on my website at https://www.stampinup.com?demoid=2206796 or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.  Be sure to follow me at:
