EXPANDING PANEL STEP CARD

Today I followed along with Lisa from Lisa’s Stamp Studio and created this amazing card.  I have followed Lisa for years and have always loved her creations and creativity.  She is great about sharing how to’s and very informative Youtube videos.  I was forturnate enough to meet Lisa a few years ago at a Stampin’ Up! event and let me tell you she is just as sweet in person as she is in her videos.

Here is how my card came out…

The card base is Secret Sea cardstock cut to 4 ¼ x 9 ½”, scored at 5 ½”, 6 ½”, 7 ½” and 8 ½” when in the horizonal position.  Rotate to vertical and scoring with the other score marks at the top score in ¾” from the right side to the 5 ½” score mark.  Score again at 1 ½” all the way to the 5 ½” score line (see diagram below for cutting and scoring information).

Now it was time to start to build the card.  The DSP for this back base is 4 x 5 ¼” and I chose the Secret Sea design with white dots for it.

I cut panel 1 (the very front panel) from Secret Sea cardstock and it is cut to 2 ¾ x 3 ½”.  The DSP for list layer is cut to 2 ½ x 3 ¼” and I used the fresh freesia and white stripped DSP for this layer.  I stamped my violets from the Framed Violets Bundle onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock using Memento Ink and colored them with Daffodil Delight, Peaceful Pine and Fresh Freesia Stampin’ Blends and cut them out with the coordinating die from the bundle.  I popped this onto the center of my panel with Dimensionals.  For my sentiment I stamped “I appreciate you” onto a piece of Basic White cardstock that measures 5/8 x 2 ¾” using Secret Sea Ink.  I mounted that onto a piece of Secret Sea cardstock that measures ¾ x 2 ¾” and popped that onto the bottom of my layer with Dimensionals.  Be sure to adhere this layer evenly with the bottom of the card base and the top left fold of the card so it will open and close properly.

For panel 2 (the center panel) I cut a piece of Secret Sea cardstock down to 3 ½ x 4 ½” and added a piece of the DSP, I picked the floral piece with a secret sea background that measured 3 ¼ x 4 ¼”.  Again, be sure to adhere this layer evenly with the bottom of the card base and the top left fold of the center fold so it will open and close properly.

Finally for the inside of the card, I added a piece of Basic White cardstock that measured 2 ½ x 3 ½” (I made sure it was hidden behind the other panels when the card was closed.  I stamped my sentiment from the bundle “Sending Love” in Secret Sea Ink.  I also stamped one of the violet images on the bottom right corner also from the bundle using Memento Ink and colored it using the Fresh Freesia, Daffodil Delight and Peaceful Pines Stampin’ Blends.

To finish off the card I simply added a couple retired gems I had on hand that matched the paper and I had a finished card.  Stay tuned as I plan to recreate this same card with another Designer Series Paper and a little twist.
