Today’s technique is called Bokeh (pronounced bowkay). In photography this is caused by an out of focus background, usually produced from shooting a photo using a fast lens at the widest aperture. Regardless of where it comes from it is a fun and neat affect on a card.
Here is what I came up
with…
The card base is Starry Sky cardstock cut
to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”. I then
cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 3 7/8 x 5 1/8” to use for the
technique. The video link below will
take you to my YouTube Channel and you can watch step by step how I created
this portion of the card. Once the Bokeh
background was complete, I attached it to a layer of Tahitian Tide cardstock
that measured 4 x 5 ¼” and added that to my card base using Dimensionals. For my sentiment I cut one of the circles
from the Stylish Shapes Dies and stamped the sentiment “Happy Birthday” from
the Pansy Patch stamp set onto it using VersaMark Ink and then added White
Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat set it.
I added this circle to my card using more Dimensionals. I just liked the way the circle sentiment
worked with this technique. I hope you
like this technique. It is fun and
simple but it creates a bit of a wow factor for sure.
I hope you enjoy this card I certainly
enjoyed making it. As always you can
