Now, Feels Like Frost - Christmas

So on my last post I showed you how I made a non-holiday card using holiday products but today I am going to make a holiday card using some of that same great DSP from the Feels Like Frost paper pack.  And here it is....

I started with a card base that I made from Whisper White cardstock that measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2" and is scored at 4 1/4".  I set that aside and started on my card front (I do this whisper white cardbase even though it will be covered because I need an inside for my card and because you need the weight of the cardstock to make a good proper card.

For the front of the card I started with a piece of the Feels Like Frost DSP that measures 2 3/4 x 5" to the right side of my card.  Next I cut a piece of Blueberry Bushel cardstock that measures 1 5/8"  x  5 1/2".  I stamped the cute snowflakes onto it (to create my own DSP) from the Frosted Foliage Stamp set using Versamark ink and I then embossed them using Shimmery White Stampin' Emboss powder (be sure to run your embossing buddy over the cardstock before you stamp to get a nice neat image).  I love the shine and sparkle this embossing powder gives the project (looks like the glitter you see on Christmas Ornaments).  I then wrapped a piece of the Seaside Spray Metallic Ribbon around the cardstock and adhered it to the left side of my card (tip:  I used tear and tape for this because there is a little bulk here with the ribbon and this tape keeps everything together), this layer will overlap the DSP just a tiny bit but the key is to make sure each piece is even with the cardbase on the outside edges of your card.

To finish off the card I stamped the sentiment (also from the Frosted Foliage stamp set) onto Whisper White cardstock using Blueberry Bushel ink and die cut it using the coordinating Frosted Frames Dies (note:  if you purchase the stamps and dies as a bundle you save 10% on both of them, item #153029).  I popped it up on the front of the card using dimensionals and for a final little touch I added three little snowflakes from Snowflake Sequins.

I hope you enjoy this project and as always you can find all the products used to make this card and many more on my website at www.craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by clicking the shopping cart at the top of this blog or by clicking the items below.

Happy Crafting!!!

Not just for Christmas

I am finding that I actually prefer to make cards with unusual or unexpected sentiments or designer series paper.  This one is a perfect example...

This card features the new Feels Like Frost 6 x 6" Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Catalog but as you can see it is certainly not a holiday card.  This paper is really very beautiful and while it has a second side that is silver and white metallic and very holidayish (I know I made the word up) but I find the side with these beautiful photo quality images to be just breathtaking and because they are so beautiful they almost make the card all by themselves.  Just remember this paper is from the holiday catalog so don't wait order yours now as the catalog and the paper retire on January 3, 2020.

I chose this pretty scene with some foliage that coordinates so well with Purple Posy and Seaside Spray cardstock (both from this years in colors).  The card is very basic.  I started with a Seaside Spray base that was cut 5 1/2 x 8 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4" and set aside.  I began making my layers by stacking the following...a layer of Whisper White cardstock that measures 4 x 5 1/4" and a layer of Purple Posy cardstock that measures 3 3/4 x 5" and finally, the best part, this gorgeous DSP that measures 3 1/2 x 4 3/4".  Once I had those layers all assembled I wrapped them with a piece of the Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon and created a bow (this ribbon is super easy to work).

Then I simply added those layers onto my card base.  Next I stamped the sentiment "Thank You" from the Magnolia Blooms stamp set onto a piece of Purple Posy cardstock using Seaside Spray ink.  I then die cut that using the die from the Beautiful Boughs die set.  I popped it up on the card at an angle using dimensionals and finished the card off with three Seaside Spray dots from the 2019 - 2020 In Color Faceted Dots embellishments.

And there you have it, a card that was created using products from both the annual and the holiday catalog that is anything but holidayish, LOL.  Hope you enjoyed this card.  As always you can find the supplies to make this card and much more on my website at www.craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by clicking the shopping cart at the top of this blog or the item listed below.

Happy Crafting!!!

Deck the Halls

Today’s card features the Brightly Gleaming Suite.  I love all the beautiful colors in this paper as well as all the Copper accents.  So here it is…

And here is how it was created…

The card base was created using Night of Navy card stock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”, Layer 1 is Pretty Peacock card stock cut to 4 x 5 ¼” and Layer 2 is Brightly Gleaming DSP cut to 3 ¾ x 5”

Cut a strip of the Cooper Foil to 1 ½ x 5” and make it into a banner using the Banner Triple Punch and then emboss it using the Hammered Metal embossing folder.

Night of Navy card stock 2 ¾ x 2 ¾” is die cut using the 3rd largest of the scalloped circles from the Layering Circle dies, Pretty Peacock card stock is die cut using the 4th largest of the scalloped circles from the Layering Circle dies and I simply cut it out of the center of the first layer (this is a great way to save card stock and keep the mailing weight of your card down).  And the Very Vanilla card stock 2 x 2” is die cut using the 3rd largest of the circles from the Stitched Shapes dies and it is then stamped with the sentiment “Deck the Halls with boughs of Holly” from the Christmas Gleaming stamp set using Pretty Peacock ink.

All three circles are layered together and then adhered to the front of the card using dimensionals.

The inside of the card is Very Vanilla card stock cut to 4 x 5 ¼” and stamped using Pretty Peacock ink with the sentiment “May the spirit of PEACE gently fill your heart and home in this most wonderful time of year” Peaceful Boughs stamp set.  Here is what that looks like...

I hope you enjoy this project; it really was fun to do some scrapbook pages for a change.  I will list all the products I used below and as always they and many more products can be found on my website at www.craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog.

A Christmas Birdie for You

I decided to work on a cute card that my church could send out to our college students with the Christmas care packages (we have 35 of them so that’s a lot of cards).  To make the process faster I cut the square that the stamp is on and lined up the bird and sentiment on my Stamparatus and stamped away, 35 done for them and 12 for my class in no time flat.  I love this tool it makes for perfect stamping every time (plus you can stamp a second time if you didn't get it dark enough and it lines up perfectly every time) and when you are doing a large group like these it is the only way to go.  So here is what it looks like…

Now let me tell you how it is made.

The card base was created using Sahara Sand card stock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”
Cut a piece of Shaded Spruce card stock 2 ½ x 5 ¼” and a piece of the Wrapped in Plaid DSP to 2 x 4 ½”.  Wrap a piece of the Linen Thread around the Shaded Spruce piece and attach one of the cute bells from the Jingle Bells embellishments.

Now adhere the two pieces to the front of the card as shown.

Stamp the bird and the sentiment from the Birds of a Feather stamp set using StazOn ink onto a piece of Shimmery White card stock that measures 2 ½ x 2 ½”.  I colored mine in using colored pencils (cherry cobbler, daffodil delight, pumpkin pie and whisper white).  I did use my trusty Blender Pens to give all my coloring a smooth clean look (this is a great secret).  I added a little liquid glue and some dazzling diamonds for the white fur parts of the hat.  I also added a little Copper Star Designer element.

I mounted this onto a piece of Shaded Spruce card stock that was die cut using the 2nd largest of the squares from the Layering Squares Dies (about 2 ¾ x 2 ¾”).  I also cut the largest of the scalloped dies from this set out of Cherry Cobbler card stock for the layer (about 3 ½ x 3 ½”).  I popped this up on the card using dimensionals.

For the inside of the card I cut a piece of Very Vanilla card stock 4 x 5 ¼” and stamped the sentiment “wishing you a JOYFUL CHRISTMAS from our little flock using Cherry Cobbler ink.  Here is what that looks like.

I hope you enjoy this card and as always the supplies used to make it and much more are available on my website at www.craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by clicking the shopping cart at the top of this blog.  I will list the supplies I used below.

Come to Gather Scrapbook Layout #1

I have said this several times here but I love fall and especially those fall colors. This year I am adding a new color to my fall projects (Pretty Peacock) because I believe it is a natural fit. So I have been working on several scrapbook layouts using this awesome Come to Gather DSP and I will be showcasing them over the next month or so, stay tuned for more. Today’s pages…

To start with I used 12 x 12” Whisper White cardstock as my base for the pages. So lets get started with the first page. I began with a piece of the DSP (I liked this check with all the different colors) which I cut to 4 x 12” and inked (I believe when you are scrapbooking inking the edges of your papers and photo mats really adds dimension) it using Pretty Peacock ink and placed it about 1” from the left side. Next, I cut strips of paper that I made into a weave (each one was cut at an angle for added interest). The three going across are 2 each pear pizzaz cardstock which is ½ x 6 ½” (inked with pear pizzaz) and 1 using the DSP (I chose one that is cherry cobbler with leaves) which was cut to ½ x 6” and inked with cherry cobbler. The strips going down are 2 each cut from pretty peacock card stock which measures ½ x 6 ½” (inked with pretty peacock) and one cajun craze card stock which measures ½ x 6” (inked with cajun craze). I wove the strips in and out from one another for a basket weave affect. I added two standard photo mats in pretty peacock cardstock that measure 4 x 6”.

For the embellishments on the top left of the page I stamped three large leaves from the Gather Together stamp set onto card stock using the same colored ink, one in rich razzleberry, one in cajun craze and the last one is pretty peacock. I cut them out using the Gathered Leaves dies. I glued the rich razzleberry and cajun craze leave right onto the page but popped up the pretty peacock one with dimensionals (I did use my bone folder to shape all the leaves and give them some dimension). I added a little cajun craze bow using the twine from the Come to Gather Ribbon Combo pack.

For the embellishments on the bottom right of this page I stamped three Sunflowers using the Painted Harvest stamp set onto whisper white cardstock (one is stamped in cajun craze, one in mint macaron and the third in pretty peacock, the centers of all the flowers were stamped using early espresso ink) all the flowers were then fussy cut (sorry no die for this set). I then stamped four sets of leaves from the same stamp set onto pear pizzaz cardstock using pear pizzaz ink and they were punched out using the leaf punch (this punch actually coordinates with several stamp sets). For the final touch to my grouping I stamped three medium sized leaves from the Colorful Seasons stamp set onto rich razzleberry, cajun craze and pretty peacock cardstock using the coordinating ink and then these were cut out using the Seasonal Layers dies. I started this grouping by using dimensionals on all of the sunflowers and grouped them together. I then shaped my leaves and began tucking them in around the flowers and gluing them directly to the page.

So there is page 1 now lets get started on page 2…

For this page I again started with a piece of 12 x 12” Whisper White cardstock as a base. I began with a piece of the DSP (I again used the checked paper with all the different colors) which I cut to 4 x 12” and inked using Pretty Peacock ink and placed it horizontally at the very bottom of the page. I then added two more strips of DSP that were ½ x 12” and were inked with coordinating ink (you can use any of the beautiful paper from this pack since everything coordinates so well. To mimic (to a degree) the weave on page one I added two strips of DSP (love this little check) each was cut ½ x 5 ¾” the end was slanted and they were inked using pretty peacock ink.  Next I added two more photo mats that were cut from pretty peacock cardstock that measured 4 x 6” and were inked.

For the embellishments on the top right of this page I stamped three Sunflowers using the Painted Harvest stamp set onto whisper white cardstock (one is stamped in cajun craze, one in rich razzleberry and the third in pretty peacock, the centers of all the flowers were stamped using early espresso ink) all the flowers were then fussy cut. I then stamped four sets of leaves from the same stamp set onto pear pizzaz cardstock using pear pizzaz ink and they were punched out using the leaf punch. For the final touch to my grouping I stamped three medium sized leaves from the Colorful Seasons stamp set onto rich razzleberry, cajun craze and pretty peacock cardstock using the coordinating ink and then these were cut out using the Seasonal Layers dies. I adhered this group the same way I did the one on page 1. Be sure to shape your flowers and leaves this makes a real difference in the look of the page.

For the bottom right side of the page I mimicked page one by stamping three large leaves from the Gather Together stamp set onto card stock using the same colored ink, one in rich razzleberry, one in cajun craze and the last one is pretty peacock. I cut them out using the Gathered Leaves dies. I glued the rich razzleberry and cajun craze leave right onto the page but popped up the pretty peacock one with dimensionals. I added a little cajun craze bow using the twine from the Come to Gather Ribbon Combo pack.

Unfortunately, my adorable little fall duck is not a Stampin’ Up product but is actually an SVG from Kadoodle Bugs Designs (she has some adorable designs) that I cut using my Circut. I did use the beautiful stampin up cardstock which cuts amazingly well on the Circut. If you don’t have a Cricut or the patience’s (yes too many layers to count and much time to put together) you could always move your flowers on the right closer to the edge and put in two photo mats or you could add some additional flowers but I was making this page for a very special little girl who will love this little duck so I just couldn’t resist.

I hope you love these pages as much as I do and as always you can find all (well all but miss duck) the products to make these pages and lots more on my website at www.craftwithronnie.stampinup.net I will list all the supplies I used below.

As always, Happy Crafting!!!

Trees and Plaid

I love the way this card turned out.  The gold embossing on the card as well as the gold lines in the paper and the gold in the ribbon make it all work so well together don't you think?

I need to apologize for the photo, even with a photo booth when a card has this much foil paper on it the shine is super bright.  Be sure that in person it is very pretty and the gold is just the right touch.  So here is how it was made...

The card base was created using Cherry Cobbler card stock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”

Layer is Shaded Spruce cut to 4 x 5 ¼”

Wrapped in Plaid DSP is cut 2 x 5” and Gold Foil cut to 2 x 5” and both mounted onto piece of Shaded Spruce layer.  Wrap a piece of the Shaded Spruce/Gold 3/8” Stripped Ribbon around the layer where the DSP and Gold Foil meet.

Stamp “Merry Christmas” sentiment and the tree from the Perfectly Plaid Stamp Set onto Shaded Spruce card

stock using Versamark Ink and heat emboss with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder using the Heat Tool.

Repeat stamping the tree using the Versamark and heat embossing in Gold on a piece of Whisper White and a piece of Cherry Cobbler.

Punch sentiment out using the Timeless Label Punch and punch the trees out sing the Pine Tree Punch.

Using the 2nd largest stitched circle from the Stitched Shapes dies cut a piece of the Gold Foil (Note:  This die set is great it includes circles, ovals and squares that layer, I use this one a lot) .

Adhere the circle to the left side of the card and the sentiment (which is popped up with dimensionals) onto the right side.

Adhere the Whisper White and Shaded Spruce trees onto the circle and then add the Cherry Cobbler (also popping it up with dimensionals.

The finishing touch is to stamp the sentiment “Hoping that your busy year comes together in Christmas Cheer” onto a piece of Whisper White card stock that measures 4 x 5 ¼” using the Shaded Spruce ink for the inside sentiment.  And here is what that looks like.

I hope you enjoyed this card and as always the products used to create it and many more are available on my website at www.craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by clicking the shopping cart at the top of this blog.  I will list the supplies I used below.

Christmas Boughs anyone?

I live in what is known as the Sandhills of North Carolina where the Longleaf Pines reign supreme among the trees.  So it should not surprise anyone that pine boughs are one of my favorite things to use for Christmas cards and decorations (after all who would move to a place covered in these trees if they didn’t love them).  So today’s card was inspired by that love of boughs.

I started with a simple Whisper White card base that was cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼” (note here this is simply a piece of 8 ½ x 11” cardstock cut in half on the 11” side and scored in half on the 8 ½” side).

Next I added a layer of Soft Seafoam card stock that measures 4 x 5 ¼”.  I stamped this layer to create my own designer paper.  I used the Peaceful Boughs stamp set.  To start I randomly stamped the boughs using Pear Pizzazz ink.  I then stamped the little background dots (from that same stamp set) using Soft Seafoam ink and just filling in the layer.

I cut two boughs (using the two smaller boughs) from Sparkle Glimmer Paper (it really shines and has that beautiful look of glitter without ending up with glitter all over the place) using the Beautiful Boughs Dies.

Next I stamped the sentiment (also from the same stamp set onto Cherry Cobbler cardstock (because this is a Christmas Card and I needed a pop of red) using Versamark ink and then heat embossed it with the White Stampin Emboss Powder and heat set it using my heat tool.  I let that cool for just a minute and then cut it out using one of the beautiful frame dies (also from the Beautiful Boughs Dies).

I popped my sentiment up using dimensionals and tucked my boughs under it and attached (I did use some mini dimensionals on the smaller bough so it would stand out a little more.  Finally, I added a bow made from the Whisper White Solid Bakers Twine.  And there you have it.

I loved the simplicity of this card and I hope you do as well.  I will post a list of the supplies I used below.  As always you can find the supplies to make this card and much more on my website at www.craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog.

Traditional Christmas

Each year I make Christmas cards for my mother in law and this year will be no different.  However, over the years I have come to learn that her generation prefers the traditional Christmas colors like red, green and maybe a little gold (no the blue ones of a few years ago did not go over that well).  So you can imagine how happy I was when I opened up the Stampin Up Holiday catalog and came across the Wrapped in Plaid.  I love the beautiful tartan patterns for Christmas and there was plenty of the traditional colors.  So I decided to play around and used that paper along with the gorgeous ornament stamps and punches from the Christmas Gleaming bundle and the pine bough dies and sentiment from the Peaceful Boughs bundle.  And here is what I came up with, tell me what you think...

And here is how I created it...

The card base was created using Cherry Cobbler Cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”

Wrapped in Plaid DSP is cut 1 x 5 ½” and mounted on a piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock that measures 1 ¼ x 5 ½”

The bough is the second largest from the Beautiful Boughs Dies and was cut from Shaded Spruce cardstock (2 ¼ x 3”).  I then added Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the edges of the needles and dipped it into Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter.

The ornaments were stamped onto pieces of Cherry Cobbler and Shaded Spruce cardstock (2 ½ x 3”) using the Christmas Gleaming Stamp Set and Versamark ink.  I then embossed them using my heat tool and Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and then they were punched out using the Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack (Remember when you order the stamp set and punch as a bundle you save 10% on both).

I stamped the sentiment “Season’s Greetings” from the Peaceful Boughs Stamp set using Versamark ink and then heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.  I punched it out using the Timeless Label punch.  (Reminder if you purchase the Peaceful Boughs bundle which includes the stamp and die sets you save 10% on each).

The sentiment and the Cherry Cobbler ornament were popped up using dimensionals.

For the final thing I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼” for the inside of the card.  I did stamp the smaller of the two ornaments form the Christmas Gleaming stamp set with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with the gold embossing powder as well.  Here is how that looks.

I hope you enjoy this traditional card, I will list all the supplies I used below and you can find all of them and much more on my website at www.craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog.

Copper Frames Look Great

I just love the look of copper so I could not resist doing another card using the Copper Foil Sheets.  This is a really simple card that has that really classy look to it.

I started with a card base that was cut from Pretty Peacock that measures 5 ½ x 8 ½” and is scored at 4 ¼”

I then cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock to 3 x 4 ½” and centered about ¾” from the bottom I stamped my sentiment (from the Perfectly Plaid stamp set) with Versamark ink and then heat embossed it using the Copper Stampin Emboss Powder.  I adhered this to the card base.

Next, I used two dies from my Stitched Rectangles to create a frame (I used the largest and the fourth from the largest to make my frame) from the Copper Foil Sheets.  I love the stitching that is created using these dies, it just adds that additional bit of interest to the card.  I centered the frame over the very vanilla layer and adhered it.

Finally I simply punched two tree’s out, one from the Copper Foil Sheets (hint here, you can punch this and more out of the leftovers from the inside of your frame) and one from a piece of the Brightly Gleaming DSP (popped this one up on a dimensional).  I finished the card off with a little copper Star Designer Accent.

See I told you this one was easy.  I hope you enjoyed it.  I will list all the supplies I used below and as always you can find them and more on my website at www.craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog.

Scrapbooking Anyone?

Today I chose to create a two-page scrapbook layout.  Why you ask?  Well I have several friends that have said recently well I am not a card maker I am a scrapbooker so Stampin Up just isn’t for me.  I wanted to show them that Stampin Up is great for any paper crafter so here is what I came up with.

I started with base pages that were made from 12 x 12” Very Vanilla cardstock.  I added two strips of the beautiful Brightly Gleaming DSP (I love this paper with the beautiful copper foil accents).  The strip on the right-hand side of pages one and the left-hand side of page 2 measure 2 x 12” and the strip on the right of page one and left of page 2 measure 1 x 12”.  (see there only one half of a sheet of the DSP was used to make the whole layout).

So, let’s get started on the rest of the page (they mimic one another so no need to separate out directions).  I placed a piece of Night of Navy cardstock at the bottom that measures 9 x 4” and fits perfectly between the two strips of DSP.  Next I added a piece of Pretty Peacock also 9 x 4” above that.  To cover the seam and give my page a finished look I added a strip of the beautiful Copper foil over the intersection of those two sheets of cardstock and also at the top of the Pretty Peacock, these strips measure ½ x 9”.

For the top of the page I stamped the beautiful ornaments from the Christmas Gleaming stamp set onto pieces of Pretty Peacock, Mossy Meadow and Night of Navy using Versamark ink and them embossed them using the Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and my heat tool.  I just love the affect.  I then used the coordinating punches to punch them out.  I stamped a total of 6 of the larger and four of the smaller ornaments and placed three large and two of the small ones on each page making sure to alternate the stamped pattern in the large and also the color of the cardstock. (see photo).

I added photo mats (mine are for 4 x 6” and 4 x 4” photos) in Night of Navy and Mossy Meadow.  And to finish off my page I placed the ornaments using dimensionals at the top of the pages tucking in a piece of the Linen Thread behind each of them and wrapping it over the top of the pages and secured it in the back with photo safe tape.  Next, I just added some copper stars and ornaments from the Brightly Gleaming Foil Elements.

I hope you enjoy this project; it really was fun to do some scrapbook pages for a change.  I will list all the products I used below and as always they and many more products can be found on my website at www.craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog.
