These card in a box cards are all over facebook recently. Everyone loves them and at first I was a bit intimidated but then I found a good video from Tina Weller and I decided I could do this. So here is my first two card in a box cards.
I made this one for my beautiful Daugher-In-Law's birthday, she loves panda's so I think she will like this.
Then I made one for my husband for Valentine's Day, here it is:
Ok so here is how I made them.
Cut card stock to 8 1/4" x 9". Score along the 9" side at 2 1/8", 4 1/4", 6 3/8" and at 8 1/2" then turn 90 degrees and score at 2 3/4".
Place the 8 1/4" side at the top and the 2 3/4" side to the left of your cutter and cut at 6" (cutting off a strip that is 2 1/4").
Take the piece you cut off and cut to 3 1/8" (this piece will now have a tab at each end). Cut this in half at 1 1/8" and fold into a z fold one small tab folded up and one folded down.
Take your main card stock so that the 2 3/4" side is at the top and cut the small square score lines to create the flaps that fold down (cut off the top small tab the bottom one will be used to glue box together but upper is not needed).
At this point I like to decorate my box using designer papers, embellishments, etc. I start with the outside bottom squares and I cut four pieces at 2 x 3 1/8", then for the top sections I cut 4 pieces at 2 x 2 5/8" and I attach them. For the inside I cut three additional 2 x 2 5/8 pieces and one 2 x 5 7/8" for the back attach and then glue box together (I use score tape to hold mine together, less mess and easier to use than glue).
Now place your z strips evenly across the inside of the box (it should divide the inside of the box into equal thirds) adhere (again I used score tape) and decorate.
You can place your message on the inside of the box, outside of the box or the back of the box.
I used my Close to My Heart February Stamp of the Month, "Wild about Love" to decorate my husbands (of course now I can't get that song "Wild Thing" out of my head, LOL) that is available for the month of February only. Remember you can receive it for just $5 with a qualifying $50 purchase.
I hope this answers all those questions about how this card is made. Don't be afraid of it because it is easy to do and addictive. Remember, have fun and craft on!!
