TECHNIQUE TUESDAY EMBOSS RESIST

Today’s technique is called Emboss Resist.  This is a fun technique that can be used with many stamp sets.  I chose to use the Inked & Tiled Set and I created three different cards using the technique.  The one that I featured in the video was made with a stamped background and the other two were made using the Inked Botanicals 6 x 6” Designer Series Paper.

Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Basic Gray cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  The stamped layer is Bubble Bath cardstock cut to 4 x 5 ¼” and stamped with one of the stamps from the Inked & Tiled stamp set in Bubble Bath Ink and added to the center of the card base.  The image is stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat set using White Stampin’ Emboss Powder onto a piece of Basic White cardstock that is 3 x 4”.  It was colored using a Blending Brush and more of the Bubble Bath Ink.  I stamped the sentiment “happy BIRTHDAY” onto it using Basic Gray Ink.  It was then mounted onto a piece of Basic Gray cardstock that measured 3 1/8 x 4 1/8” and that was added to the center of the card using Dimensionals.  Check out the video for more details.

Cards 2 and 3 were created the same way using different colors and replacing the stamped first layer with Designer Series Paper.  The products used are listed below.

I hope you enjoy this technique I certainly enjoyed sharing it with you and I hope you like the cards I made with it.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and more on my website at https://www.stampinup.com?demoid=2206796 or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.  Be sure to follow me at:

MEANDERING MEADOWS FUN FOLD

Today’s card features the Meandering Meadows 6 x 6” Designer Series Paper.  I wanted to do a fun fold with this paper and it was a lot of fun.  I did flip around where I adhered my DSP to make sure that when the card was closed the garden path was whole. Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Blueberry Bushel cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 2 1/8” and 4 ¼”.  Fold the 2 1/8” piece back to the center fold on the front.  I then cut my 6 x 6” Designer Series Paper into three strips that measured 2 x 5 3/8”.  As I said above when I adhered them so that the two pieces with the garden path would show next to one another when the card was closed.  Once that was done, I simply cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 2 x 5 3/8” and adhered it to the inside.  I did stamp the cute little basic of flowers from the Garden Meadows Stamp Set that coordinates with the DSP (I did not include a sentiment so I can just add an appropriate one when I need the card) with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and colored it in using the light Stampin’ Blend Markers from the Medium, Poppy Parade, Highland Heather and Shaded Spruce.  My final addition was three of the little Brass Butterflies.  This was a fast and simple card that can be used for any occasion.

I hope you enjoy this card I certainly enjoyed making it.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and more on my website at https://www.stampinup.com?demoid=2206796 or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.  Be sure to follow me at:

INTRODUCING MEANDERING MEADOWS

Today’s card features the beautiful new Meandering Meadows 6 x 6” Designer Series Paper which is one of the new Online Exclusive Products Stampin’ Up! released on November 7th.  I fell in love with this paper the moment I saw it.  I am a bit of a sucker for these scene type prints and this one was even better than I imagined from looking at it online.  When I got it into my hands I was even happier.  I just could not wait to use it and so for the first project I wanted to keep it very simple and let the paper speak for itself.

Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Highland Heather cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  I wanted small 1/8” borders on all the layers so my next layer was cut to 4 1/8 x 5 ¾” from Bubble Bath cardstock.  I cut my Meandering Meadows DSP to 4 x 5 ¼” (this leaves a nice 2” strip which is perfect for another project).  I adhered my DSP onto my Bubble Bath cardstock and wrapped Linen Tread around it three times and tied a bow.  I then adhered this to the card base using Dimensionals.  Next, I stamped my sentiment “happy birthday!” which is from the coordinating Garden Meadow stamp set onto a scrap of Bubble Bath cardstock using Highland Heather Ink and die cut it using my favorite dies the Stylish Shapes Dies.  I added the sentiment with Dimensionals and just that quickly I had a cute and easy card where the DSP did all the work for me.

TECHNIQUE TUESDAY - ALCOHOL BLENDING

Today’s card features a technique that uses 91% Isopropyl Alcohol and Stampin’ Blends Markers on Vellum to create a beautiful affect.  I also used some of the Gilded Leafing onto the vellum for a really nice affect.  Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Pretty Peacock cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  I then cut a piece of Vellum cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼” and started the technique which I walk through on the video.

The card base is Pretty Peacock cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  I then cut a piece of Vellum cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼” and started the technique which I walk through on the video.  When completed I used the Multipurpose Liquid Glue and sponged a thin layer on the same side that I applied the ink and glued that down to a piece of Basic White cardstock that also measured 4 x 5 ¼”.  I mounted this onto my card base using Dimensionals.  I added the branch of leaves from the Artistic Dies that I had die cut out of Gold Foil paper (I used that same sponge and glue method here) and adhered it to the front of the card.  I stamped my sentiment “hello” in Pretty Peacock to a scrap of Basic White cardstock and die cut it using one of the dies from the Stylish Shapes Dies and adhered that as well.  A full list of the products I used is listed below.

I hope you enjoy this technique and card I certainly enjoyed sharing it with you.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and more on my website at https://www.stampinup.com?demoid=2206796 or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.  Be sure to follow me at:
