Dove of Hope Christmas Card

I really like this new Dove of Hope bundle.  I am trying to get a good start on my Christmas cards this year so I don’t do that last-minute sit in the craft room for 10 hours a day trying to get them all done, LOL.  I have a lot to do this year.  I send out about 40 cards, plus another 15 – 20 for customers, the church gets about 70 for the senior shut ins and the college kids and my mother in law usually wants about 20 -25.  That is a lot of cards especially for someone like me who doesn’t like to do mass production of cards.  So here is one I am very pleased with…

The card base is Night of Navy cardstock that is cut 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.  I added a layer of Whisper White cardstock that is cut to 5 ¼ x 4”.  To that I added a layer of Designer Series Paper from the Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper (love the metallics in this one) that measured 5 1/8 x 3 7/8”.  Then I started my cutting.

I die cut the dove from the dies in the bundle out of Whisper White Cardstock (these are two layers, hard to see in the photo but a great affect in person) you do have to cut the wings twice.  I adhered the layers together and then cut the olive branch also from the bundle out of Old Olive cardstock and glued it to the back of the dove’s beak.  I then mounted the dove onto my card using Dimensionals.

For my sentiment I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the 3rd from the smallest of the scalloped ovals from the Layering Ovals dies.  I then cut a piece of Night of Navy cardstock using the 3rd from the smallest of the ovals from the Layering Ovals dies.  I stamped my sentiment “Peace on Earth” which is from the stamp set in the bundle onto this oval with VersaMark ink and then used White Stampin Emboss Powder that I heat set with my Heat Tool.  I layered the two ovals together and then added them to my card with Dimensionals.

I love how this card turned out and I hope you enjoy it.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and much more on my website at https://craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by click the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.

Christmas Gift Card Holder

I love Christmas but invariably I run late with cards and gifts so this year I am working hard to get things done early.  My son and daughter-in-law purchased their first home this year so hubby and I decided that some gift cards for new must have items would be great for Christmas (that way they get just what they want and need in just the right colors etc.) so I wanted to do something special for presentation instead of just a card in an envelope or box.  So, I did some searching on Pinterest and other sites and here is what I came up with based on what others had done.

The front of the closed card

The inside of the open card, the gift card holder is on the left

The card base is Real Red cardstock that is cut 4 ¼ x 11” and scored at 2 ½” and 5 ½”.  These folds create the pocket for the gift card.  Once I had the base created, I cut Designer Series Paper from the Heartwarming Hugs DSP that measured 2 ¾ x 4” (2 of these) for the areas of the card that are seen from the front.  I centered them on the card leaving a ¼” reveal on all four sides.  I then added a piece of coordinating DSP also from the Heartwarming Hugs DSP to the inside where the pocket is created.  This piece measured 2 ¼ x 4”.  Once that was adhered, I used a small circle punch (the one I have is retired but most of us have one in our stash) to punch out a little semi-circle so you could grab the card out.  I also added a piece of Whisper White cardstock that measures 2 3/8 x 4” that I can use to write my message.

With the card base all completed let’s move on to decorating, my favorite part.  I cut a scalloped circle from Old Olive cardstock using largest of the scalloped circle dies from the Layering Circles dies.  I added a scalloped circle of Whisper White cardstock that was cut using the third largest of the scalloped circles from the same die set.  I then moved onto creating my Poinsettia.  This was created by using the Poinsettia Dies and the beautiful Red Velvet Paper.  I love these dies as they have pieces that not only cut but also emboss at the same time.  I cut two large poinsettia’s and one small and layered them together.  I added this to the ovals I had cut and for a finishing touch I added the Beaded Pearl embellishments to the center.  I stamped my sentiment which is from the Christmas Gleaming stamp set onto Whisper White cardstock using Old Olive ink and then I just fussy cut it out leaving a little of the white showing all around it.  I used Mini Dimensionals to pop up my sentiment and then I added my Poinsettia layer adhering only the left side so my card could open and close.

There you have it, a simple easy gift card holder.  I hope you enjoy this project I enjoyed making it.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and much more on my website at https://craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by click the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.

Paper, Stamps and Ink

Today I decided I wanted to create a card that used just basic supplies, so I limited myself to Paper, Stamps and Ink and I am very happy with the result.  This Forever Fern stamp set is perfect for this type of project because it has so many beautiful stamps in it that work so well together.

The card base is Pretty Peacock cardstock that is cut 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.  The second layer is Rich Razzleberry cardstock that was cut to 5 ¼ x 4”.  For my stamping I chose to stamp on a piece of Whisper White cardstock that measured 3 ¾ x 5”.  I started with my sentiment and determined where I wanted it placed and stamped it using Pretty Peacock ink.  While I had the ink out, I chose one of the leaves and also stamped it in Pretty Peacock ink in three different areas of the card front.  I moved on to Rich Razzleberry ink and selected another image and stamped it around the card front three times.  Next, I came in with Pear Pizzazz ink and a smaller leaf image and stamped it around the card three times.

To add some extra excitement and interest to the card I took the stamp that is little dots and stamped it all over the card using Pretty Peacock ink (I did some in first generation stamping, some in second generation stamping and even a few in third generation stamping).  For the final touch I used sponges and lightly sponged the same color ink around each of the images.

I added one of the images to the inside of the card which is Whisper White cut to 4 x 5 ¼”.  For my envelope I simply stamped the images and dots all over the flap (see below).

I think this card makes a great statement that you can do a lot with paper, ink and stamps. Continuing with Autumn Goodness

I have been having some fun with this bundle.  Fall is my favorite time of the year; I love the cooler air and the fall colors and I look forward to this time of the year because it also means super colorful cards.  Today I wanted to really emphasis that simple can be beautiful.

The card base is Cajun Craze cardstock that is cut 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼” (this is one of my go to colors for fall cards).  To give the base the look of designer series paper I took one of the coordinating stamps from the bundle (this one was flowers, you will see it up close in the next photo) and stamped it all over the card base using Cajun Craze ink for that tone on tone look.  I added a layer of Crushed Curry cardstock that was cut out using the second largest of the Rectangle Stitched dies (these are super versatile) and stamped my sentiment from the Autumn Goodness bundle into the top right corner using Cajun Craze ink.   I stamped my wagon and its wheel onto Soft Suede cardstock using Early Espresso ink.

For my fruit and vegetables, I stamped them onto a piece of Shimmery White cardstock using Jet Black Stazon Ink (I chose this paper and ink combination because I wanted to use my watercolor pencils and these products are made for use with water-based items).  Once I had it stamped, I went ahead and cut it out using the coordinating dies in the bundle.  Then I colored them using Watercolor Pencils (I used colors from both the Assortment 1 and Assortment 2) the thing I love about these watercolor pencils is that they are perfectly color coordinated with all the other Stampin’ Up! products so no guessing whether or not you have the right color.  To get a really smooth finished look I used my Blender Pen to blend the watercolor pencil into a nice smooth finish.

Once everything was stamped and cut out, I started my assembly.  I adhered the stitched rectangle of Crushed Curry onto my card base.  I attached my fruit and vegetables die cut to the back side of my wheelbarrow and attached the wheel to the back of my wheelbarrow.  Then I added this whole element to my card using Dimensionals.

For the final touches I added some Champaign Rhinestone Jewels to the front of my card and stamped the flowers from the bundle onto the inside of my card (Whisper White cardstock cut to 4 x 5 ¼”) and to my envelope using Cajun Craze ink (see photo).

I hope you enjoy this card as much as I enjoyed making it.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and much more on my website at https://craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by click the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.
