Continuing on the Peaceful Poppies Journey

Unfortunately, as I age and so do my friends and their parents, I am finding all too often I need a Sympathy Card, and these are often one of the cards that my ladies request we make during workshops because they too need them more often these days.  So today I set out to make a Sympathy card that was simple and classy and I think I achieved that.  (However, this could just as easily be made as a Birthday, Get Well, Thinking of You, you name it card.)  This would be a great card to keep on hand without the sentiment added (which you could do in minutes)

The card base is Poppy Parade cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  The next layer is cut from the Peaceful Poppy Designer Series paper and measures 4 x 5 ¼”.  I cut a piece of the Whisper White cardstock that measured 1 ¾ x 3 ¼” and stamped this image from the Painted Poppies bundle using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I then colored the image in using the Dark Poppy Parade and Dark Old Olive Stampin’ Blends markers.  I attached this to a piece of Poppy Parade cardstock that measured 2 x 3 ½”.  I then die cut a little scrap of Pear Pizzazz cardstock using the cute little die from the bundle.  I added this to the bottom of this layer and then popped the whole thing up on the top of the card using dimensionals.  I also die cut a little piece (about 1 ½ x 3”) of the Pear Pizzazz using the label die also from the bundle (I love that this die not only cuts the piece out but it also embosses it around the edges), I stamped my sentiment onto this label using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and popped it up on the card again using dimensions (they are one of my favorite supplies).

For the inside of the card I went simple (with the concept that I could add any sentiment I want to the front and write a personal message inside).

I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock that measured 4 x 5 ¼” and added a strip of the Designer Series paper that measured ½ x 5 ¼” along the bottom.  I then die cut a small scalloped circle from a scrap of Poppy Parade cardstock and a smaller regular circle from the matching Designer Series paper (I did center one of the poppies because I just couldn’t resist) the dies are from the Layered Circles dies.  One of the ladies in my class decided instead of doing the inside this way she would just stamp the same poppy onto the inside of the card and it looked great as well.

I hope you enjoy this card and love the versatility of this new Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper as much as I do.  I will list the supplies I used below and you can find the supplies for this card and many more on my website at www.craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog.

Painted Poppies Fun Fold

I hold monthly workshops and the ladies always love to create a card using a new fun fold so I am constantly on the lookout for something we have not done before.  I found a card that inspired this one on Pinterest.  That card had the focal point on the little strip that comes across the card but I thought it would be more fun to pop it up with dimensionals and use it as a place to tuck in my little closure.  I am pretty happy with how it came out.

The card base is Poppy Parade cardstock cut to 4 ¼ x 8 ¾” and scored at 5 ½”.  To that I added a piece of the new Poppy Parade Designer Series paper (I chose the nice big poppy paper) that measures 3 x 4”.   Then I cut a piece of Poppy Parade cardstock that measured 1 ¼ x 5” and s scored at 3 ¼” (this will become our little flap that holds the card closed).  Next I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼” and stamped my sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set on the top right side using Poppy Parade ink.  I attached my small piece of Poppy Parade cardstock to this by placing the smaller end of the scored piece behind the Whisper White and attaching them together, I then attached the entire thing to the inside of the card.  To finish the base of the card I added a piece of Designer Series Paper (I chose the green and white striped paper for this) that measured 1 x 3” to the little flap.

To decorate (and make a closure for the card) I cut out the Poppy and Leaf from the Peaceful Poppies bundle.  I used a piece of Poppy Parade cardstock (about a 3 x 3”) for the base, next I cut the next layer out of Calypso Coral cardstock (about 3 x 3”) and then cut the center of the flower out of a scrap of Basic Black Cardstock.  For the leaves I cut the first layer out of Old Olive cardstock (about 1 x 2 ½”) and the top layer out of Mossy Meadow (also about 1 x 2 ½”).  I mounted the flower onto the card using dimensionals.  I used care to place the dimensionals only on the left side so my little flap could slide under it.  Then I added the leaf.

I hope you are enjoying seeing all these cards that are being created using the new Peaceful Poppies Suite as much as I am enjoying creating them.  I will list the supplies I used below and you can find the supplies for this card and many more on my website at www.craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog.

Loving Blackberry Bliss

I decided today I would create a card that could be used for anything and I love the addition of the Blackberry Bliss with the Poppy Parade here.  I did add a sentiment on the inside making this one a Birthday card but it could have easily been a Sympathy, Get Well, Thinking of You, you name it card.  This would be a great card to keep on hand without the inside stamped for those times when you just need a quick card.

The card base is Blackberry Bliss cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  The next layer is cut from the Poppy Parade cardstock and is 4 x 5 ¼”, I ran this through the Layered Leaves 3D Embossing Folder to give it more texture.  I then cut a piece of the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper that measured 2 ¼ x 3 ½” (I used the Blackberry Bliss with Polka Dots).  I mounted this onto a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock that measured 2 ½ x 3 ¾”.  This whole panel gets adhered to the right side of the front of the card.

I then cut a scalloped circle out of Blackberry Bliss cardstock and the next size smaller regular circle (these are from the Layering Circles dies) out of the Designer Series Paper that features the small poppies.  I adhered these two circles together and then placed them on the front of the card using dimensionals.  I added a little white bow I made out of the Whisper White ¼” Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon and a couple little embellishments from the Peaceful Poppies Sequins.
Here is what I did with the inside of the card (like I said this card could have been stamped with any sentiment).

I added a piece of Whisper White cardstock that measures 4 x 5 ¼”.  Then I attached a little strip of the Designer Series Paper that measures 1 x 3 ¾” to the right side of the panel.  I stamped my sentiment (from the Peaceful Moments stamp set) in Blackberry Bliss.

Painted Poppies and Vellum

had so much fun working with vellum the other day I decided to try to use it again.  This time I added it over Designer Series Paper to soften the look.  I am pretty happy with the result.

The card base is Whisper White cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  The next layer is cut from the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper (I used the blue and white striped sheet) and is 4 ¼ x 5 ½” (so it covers the whole front of the card).  I then added another piece of Designer Series Paper (this time the blue with red Poppies) that measured 3 x 5 ½”, I placed this a little right of center for added visual interest.

Then I added a piece of the vellum cardstock that measured 3 x 5 ½” and centered it right down the floral DSP (the trick with vellum is to hide your glue so it won’t show on your finished project, so here I added a drop at the top where I was adding a gem, some under where my sentiment would go and some under where my flowers would be placed, this helps hide the glue).

Then I moved on to decorating the card itself.  I cut this cute circle out of Pear Pizzazz cardstock using the die from the Painted Poppies bundle.  I added a Whisper White circle that I cut from the third largest of the circles in the Stitched Shapes dies.  I used Tuxedo Black Memento ink to stamp my greeting from the Peaceful Moments stamp set onto the whisper white circle and adhered this to the Pear Pizzazz circle and then placed that onto the card using dimensionals.

For the flowers I stamped the two poppies from the Painted Poppies bundle using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto a piece of Poppy Parade cardstock (about 3 x 3”) and using the dies from the bundle cut them out.  I brushed them with a little of the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to give them a nice shine and added them to the card again using dimensionals.  For the leaves I simply stamped them onto a scrap of Old Olive cardstock again using the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I then used the dies from the bundle to cut them out.  These I added directly to the card.  For the finishing touch on this card I added three little Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

I hope you enjoy this card and love the new Peaceful Poppies Suite as much as I do.  I will list the supplies I used below and you can find the supplies for this card and many more on my website at www.craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog.
