Just Saying Hello

I had such a good time working with the Tasteful Touches Bundle and the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper on Monday I decided to play with it a little more today    

I really like the subtle textures in this designer series paper and wanted to use this one with hexagonal tiles with a little pink hue, so I thought it would look great with a gray backdrop and here is what I made…

The card base is Basic Gray cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  I then added a layer of Smoky Slate that measured 4 x 5 ¼”, I stamped the leaves from the stamp set using Basic Gray ink (which I had stamped off once for a lighter tone) along the top of this layer.  I added a piece of the In Good Taste DSP to the bottom of this layer that measured 2 ¼ x 5 ¼” to the bottom of this layer. 

Next I stamped three of the flowers onto Whisper White cardstock using Melon Mambo ink, while the ink was still fresh I used my Blending Pen to pull some of the ink into the open areas giving the flowers a little touch of the Melon Mambo ink (this is a great way to add a little color without taking away from the sharpness of the image.  Once I had all my flowers colored I fussy cut them. 

For my sentiment I used another of the stamps from the set and stamped it with Melon Mambo ink onto Whisper White cardstock.  I then used another of the dies from this bundle to cut it out and I used dimensionals to pop it and the flowers up across the center of the card.  Again, this is one of the ones I was talking about on Monday that cuts and embosses (I am loving these dies).

Tasteful Touches

I had some fun with the new Tasteful Touches bundle today.  I am really enjoying this bundle along with the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper.  One of the things I am really loving are the amazing dies in this set, not only do they cut out some beautiful labels for my sentiments but some are stitched and others actually emboss as well as cut, I will show you one later in the post.      

Here is todays share…

The card base is Smoky Slate cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”. 

Next I took a piece of the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper that measured 3 ¾ x 5” (I love this tile look, this whole package is made up of wonderful neutral textural designs) and I stamped the leaves from the Tasteful Touches bundle onto it with Old Olive ink, starting in the center of the paper and working out to the top right and down the bottom left with a little more between them.  I attached this DSP to a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock that measured 4 x 5 ¼”.  I wrapped a piece of the Linen Thread around the card three times. 

Nest I went to work on my flowers.  I stamped the flower onto Whisper White cardstock twice using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I colored the flowers using my Stampin’ Blends, I used Petal Pink and Flirty Flamingo on the flowers themselves and added some Mango Melody to the centers.  Once these were all colored I fussy cut them (no big deal as this is a really easy flower to cut).  I popped them up onto the center of my card using Dimensionals right over the Linen Thread I had across the center of the card.  I then added a little triple bow made from the Linen Thread to the left side of the card.

For my sentiment I used one of the dies from the bundle and one of the sentiments.  Look at what I mean about how these dies cut and emboss for a super cool affect…

I just love this affect.  I stamped the sentiment “YOU ARE SO special” onto a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock using the Tuxedo Black Memento ink and then die cut it and placed it on the bottom right of the card using Dimensionals.  I did add a three of the little Pearl Basic Jewels to the top left to balance out the card (remember uneven numbers of embellishments look the best)

(TIP:  PLAY WITH THESE DIES A LITTLE TO FIND THE PERFECT SANDWICH SO THEY CUT AND EMBOSS WELL, I HAD TO ADD A LITTLE BIT OF PAPER TO SHIM MY PLATES)

Blossoms in Bloom meets Vellum and White

I wanted to make another card that showcased this beautiful Blossoms in Bloom bundle.  So I decided I would play around with some textured background, vellum and both white and black cardstock.  This card features the dies from the bundle and only used the stamp set for the sentiment.    

Here it is…

The card base is Whisper White cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  Then I added a layer of Basic Black which measures 4 x 5 ¼”.  The next layer is a little larger than I normally make my third layer but I love having just a hint of the black showing.  It was cut from Just Jade cardstock and measures 3 7/8 x 5 1/8”, once I had this cut, I embossed it using the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder (love the light texture this gives my layer).

Onto the flowers themselves, I started with the wider of the flower dies (the one shown at the bottom of this picture) and I cut it out of Vellum cardstock (unlike the other cards I have created using this die set I did not add adhesive sheets to the back of this one because they would show through the vellum so I will explain adhering it to the card in the next step) once this was cut (yes run it through the die cutting machine several times to get all the little bits and pieces out) I set it aside.

Now I started work on the next layer of the flowers.  For this layer I used the narrower die (shown at the top of the photo above) and I adhered the Adhesive Sheets to the back of Whisper White cardstock and cut it out.  I adhered this to the top of the vellum flowers by aligning the top and working down and across slowly removing the adhesive sheet.  Once my flowers were put together, I used liquid adhesive to attach it to the front of the card. 

(TIP: HIDE YOUR ADHESIVE BEHIND THE WHISPER WHITE LAYER SO IT DOES NOT SHOW THROUGH THE VELLUM)

For my sentiment I stamped the HELLO from the Blossoms in Blooms bundle onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock using VersaMark ink and added White Stampin’ Emboss powder and heat set it using my Heat Tool.  I then die cut it using a die from the Stitched So Sweetly dies and popped it up with Dimensionals.

Golden Blossoms In Bloom

Golden Blossoms in Bloom

I told you I was loving this Blossoms in Bloom Bundle and I would be playing with it more and I have been.  So today I decided I would create a card that highlighted this bundle along with Gold, Black and the new Just Jade colors.  

Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Just Jade cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.   Once I had it folded, I stamped my image from the Blossoms in Bloom bundle onto the center front using VersaMark ink and then added Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat set it with the Heat Tool (this created my first layer of gold). 

I then prepared a piece of Gold Foil Paper that I cut just large enough to fit the wider of the two large image dies from the same bundle.  Once I had it cut, I added some of the Adhesive Sheets to the back (this makes this whole card so much easier) and then ran it through my die cutting machine.  It was then layered directly onto the card over the gold embossing (just start in one corner and line things up and slowly work across and down the card to adhere it.

Next came the black accent (which I think makes the card pop) this was created by using Basic Black cardstock that I also covered with the Adhesive Sheets and using the thinner of the two dies from the bundle I ran that through the die cutting machine.  It was then adhered to the top of the gold foil using the same method as in the previous step. 

(TIP:  RUN THESE PIECES THROUGH THE DIE CUTTING MACHING SEVERAL TIMES TO REMOVE ALL THE LITTLE BITS AND PIECES)

Once all of that was done it was time to work on my sentiment.  I used my Lovely Labels Pick a Punch to create my layers for the sentiment (I am loving this punch; it has two different designs and will cut in three different widths).  For my actual sentiment I chose to use a piece of Just Jade cardstock that measured ¾” x 2 5/8”, I stamped my sentiment from the same bundle using VersaMark ink and again used gold embossing powder and my Heat Tool to set it.  I added this to a piece of Basic Black cardstock that measured 1 x 3 ¼” that was also punched on each end.  The whole sentiment was then popped up using Dimensionals.
