CREATING WITH CUT APARTS (6-24-2026)

Today’s card features the Waterside Retreat Designer Series Paper.  When I got this DSP I was a little stumped as to how I would use the two sheets of cut apart pieces in different sizes.  I have used these many times when scrapbooking but I wanted to see how I could use them for card making.  So I did what I often do when I am looking for inspiration and I searched this paper on Pinterest to see what my fellow demonstrators were doing with it.  I happened across a card created by Pam Nichols that was my inspiration for this card.  Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Gray Granite cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  I cut a layer of Misty Moonlight that measured 4 1/8 x 5 3/8” as I wanted small margins on these layers.  Next, I cut a piece of the Waterside Retreat DSP that looks like wood paneling to 4 x 5 ¼” and added that.  I cut a piece of the DSP that looks like waves to 2 x 5 ¼” and mounted that onto a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock that measured 2 1/8 x 5 3/8”.  Then I added that to the left side of the card about ¼” from the side.

I selected the two cut apart pieces I was going to use and mounted them.  The first was mounted on a piece of Misty Moonlight that measured 2 1/8 x 3 1/8” that was then mounted onto a piece of Gray Granite that measured 2 ¼ x 3 ¼”.  The second was mounted on a piece of Misty Moonlight that measured 2 3/8 x 3” that was then mounted onto a piece of Gray Granite that measured 2 ½ x 3 1/8”.  I added the top cut apart to the left top of the card (I added Dimensionals on the right side and adhered the left side to the wave layer I had already placed there).  I added the second cut apart to the card using Dimensionals and overlapping the top one just a bit.  I stamped my sentiment “Happy Birthday” from the Banner Sayings Bundle onto a scrap of Grey Granite cardstock using Misty Moonlight Ink and punched it out with the coordinating punch.  I punched a second flag out of a scrap of Misty Moonlight cardstock and adhered it to the back of the sentiment.  I attached this to the card with Mini Dimensionals.  To finish off the card I added three of the Pearls of Beauty.

I hope you enjoy this card I certainly enjoyed making it.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and more on my website at https://www.stampinup.com?demoid=2206796 or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.  Be sure to follow me at:
