BEACH BIRTHDAY

Today’s card features the Relaxing Waterside Bundle and the Sunset Coast Stamps.  I love the beach so anytime I get to create a card with a beach theme I am happy.  I really enjoyed this one as I decided to create my own background rather than using DSP and I am pretty happy with the result.  Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Night of Navy cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  I added a layer of Pecan Pie cardstock that measured 4 x 5 ¼”.  Then I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 3 7/8” x 5 1/8” and went to work creating my scene.  I started by using a Blending Brush and adding Balmy Blue ink to create a skyline, at that time I also stamped my sentiment “Have a Great Birthday” from the Relaxing Waterside Stamp Set in Azure Afternoon Ink on the upper left corner.  I stamped one of the Seagulls from the same set in the top right corner using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  Once I had that the way I wanted it to look, I added my water by using the water stamps from the Sunset Coast Stamp Set and more Balmy Blue Ink along with some Azure Afternoon ink.  When my water was complete I I started on my sand.

For the sand I took two scraps of Pecan Pie cardstock and tore them (tear towards yourself for a better look).  After they were torn, I inked the edges with Pecan Pie Ink using a Dauber.  To add additional interest, I speckled them with my Pecan Pie Stampin’ Blend (I used the small end and just dotted around on the paper).  I added these to my scene layer and just cut off any excess.  I added this layer to my card.

To finish the front of the card I did some die cutting.  I cut the cattails out of both Mossy Meadow and Pecan Pie cardstock.  I cut the tops off the Pecan Pie ones and adhered them to the Mossy Meadow ones.  I die cut the chair twice as well, once from Night of Navy and once from Hydrangea Hue and created the chair for the card.  Note: you can make a second chair with the left-over pieces (it is just the opposite of this one).  I added that to my card front and it looked great.

For the inside and the envelope, I used the water stamp from the Sunset Coast set again and just stamped it twice once with Azure Afternoon and once with Balmy Blue Ink.  I added a sailboat from the same set stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  This card had a lot of techniques used but the results were so worth the time it took.

I hope you enjoy this card I certainly enjoyed making it.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and more on my website at https://www.stampinup.com?demoid=2206796 or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.  Be sure to follow me at:
