TODAY IS YOUR DAY

Today’s card features the Relaxing Waterside Bundle, the Sunset Coast Stamps and the Waterside Retreat Designer Series Paper.  I sometimes stuggle (and often hear others say the same) with masculine cards so I was really happy with this DSP as I believe it has a nice masculine feel.  Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Old Olive cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  I used a Sponge Dauber and Old Olive Ink and just distressed the front edges of the card base.  I stamped two of the seagulls from the bundle and one of the sea grass images onto the card, I stamped the birds in the top right one first generation and one second generation and the sea grass on the bottom right all with Old Olive Ink.

Next, I added a piece of the plaid DSP to the left side of the card it measured 2 x 5 ¼”.  I cut two squares of Old Olive cardstock to 2 x 2” and added squares of the board finished DSP that measured 1 ¾ x 1 ¾” to them.  I attached them by placing the top corner of the first one at the very top of the card base and following it down evenly with the plaid DSP, I then attached the second one the same way placing the bottom corner at the very bottom of the card base.

Now it is time to create my focal point.  I cut a piece of Basic Beige cardstock to 2 ¾ x 2 ¾”.  I masked off the top leaving about ¾” showing on the bottom and using a Blending Brush and Pecan Pie Ink I created sand.  Then I moved my mask to cover up the sand and using a Blending Brush I added Balmy Blue Ink to the remaining piece.  With that finished I used the water stamp from the Sunset Coast Stamp Set and Azure Afternoon Ink and I stamped my water.  I then used the clouds from that same set and using Balmy Blue Ink I stamped off once and then added the clouds to my scene.  I finished the scene by adding some of the sea grass from the Relaxing Waterside bundle stamped in Old Olive Ink.  With everything stamped I added this layer to a piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock that measured 2 7/8 x 2 7/8” and centered that over the other two squares right in the center of the card, popping it up on Dimensionals.

I used the dies from the Relaxing Waterside Bundle and die cut the Adirondack chair from Pecan Pie cardstock.  I added some texture by using a Sponge Dauber to sponge on some Pecan Pie Ink.  I adhered that to the center of my focal point.  I stamped “Today is your Day” onto a scrap of Crumb Cake cardstock with Pecan Pie Ink and punched it out using one of the flags from the Three Banner Punch.  I adhered that to the bottom right of my focal point.  For my final addition I die cut one of the cattails from the bundle out of Basic White cardstock and colored it using the Old Olive and Pecan Pie Stampin’ Blends.

For the inside of the card, I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼” and stamped the sentiment “HAVE A GREAT BIRTHDAY” and the sea grass from the bundle onto it using Old Olive Ink.
