TRUE BLUE FLORALS CARD #5

Today’s card once again features True Blue Florals Designer Series Paper (DSP) which was a product of the month that is now retired.  I did want to use this as an opportuntiy to remind everyone that Stampin’ Up! releases a new “Product of the Month” each month that can be purchased for $5 with a qualifying $75 purchase while supplies last.  This program does not allow you to purchase more than one of any of the products offered but you can purchase ones that are from previous months as long as you have not already purchases it and supplies remain.  I am just making cards to go with a card gift box I posted a few days ago and these basic designs can be used with any DSP you have on hand.  As a matter of fact this design is one that uses a card sketch, I create these templates from cards I have seen over the years or just from ideas I have in my head and make them out of cheap cardstock and then I can draw on them for ideas for card layouts later as I did in this case.  (I will share a picture of this one at the end of the post but note I did swap the position of two of the pieces for a whole different look, that’s the great part of these templates, they are just ideas that you can play with.)

Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Night of Navy cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  I added a layer of Balmy Blue cardstock that measures 4 x 5 ¼”.  I cut 4 Night of Navy mats that measure 1 5/8 x 3 ¾”, 1 ¾ x 3 ¼”, 1 3/8 x 1 7/8”, and 1 ¾ x 1 7/8”.  To the 1 5/8 x 3 ¾” mat I added a piece of Basic White cardstock that I had embossed using the Beautiful Patterns Embossing Folder (good news it is in the last chance section and currently on sale) that measured 1 ½ x 3 5/8”.  To the 1 ¾ x 3 ¼” mat I added a piece of DSP that measures 1 5/8 x 3 1/8”.  To the 1 3/8 x 1 7/8” mat I added a piece of DSP that measures 1 ¼ x 1 ¾”.  Finally for the 1 ¾ x 1 7/8” mat I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 1 5/8 x 1 ¾” and stamped it using the Friendly Foliage stamp set and some Balmy Blue and Night of Navy Ink. 

I added all four of the panels to my card being sure to keep the border around each the same.  I also fussy cut out some of the flowers from one sheet of the DSP and added them to my white embossed layer, I did pop up the largest flower with Dimensionals.  I also cut two sets of leaves from the Layers of Beauty Dies (score another last chance item on sale while supplies last, who doesn’t love a sale). 

Here is the template I was talking about earlier.  Remember you can move these panels around and completely change the look of your card.  Don't be afraid to experiment with new ideas.
