FLORALS IN BLOOM TWO WAYS

Today I created two cards using the Florals In Bloom Designer Series Paper which is an online exclusive (that just means you won’t see it in a catalog).  I wanted to show how you can take a simple card layout and turn the orientation of the card around.  So I made one card vertical and the other horizonal.  I used pretty basic supplies and kept it simple.

Here is what I came up with…

CARD #1

For card #1 the card base is Cloud Cover cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  I then cut a piece of the Florals In Bloom DSP to 2 x 6” and then cut that down to 2 x 5” and 2 x 1”.  I mounted those on pieces of Secret Sea cardstock that measures 2 ¼ x 5 ¼” and 2 ¼ x 1 ¼”.  I added the larger piece to the center of my card base and then added the smaller piece near the bottom (up about 1”).  For my sentiment I stamped “So Very Happy For You” from the Scalloped Wishes stamp set onto a scrap of Basic White Cardstock using Secret Sea Ink.  I punched this out with a 1” circle punch (now retired but you can use any punch or die you have on hand, the circles in the Stylish Shapes Dies would work great) and added that to a piece of Secret Sea cardstock I punched out using a 1 ¼” circle punch.  I added the sentiment onto the card using Dimensionals.

CARD #2

For card #2 the card base is Summer Splash cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  I added a layer of Peach Pie cardstock that measured 4 x 5 ¼”.   I then cut a piece of the Florals In Bloom DSP to 2 x 6” and then cut that down to 2 x 5” and 2 x 1” (NOTE:  This time I turned my DSP to the horizonal position before cutting as I wanted the card to be that orientation).  I mounted those on pieces of Summer Splash cardstock that measures 2 ¼ x 5 ¼” and 2 ¼ x 1 ¼”.  I mounted the 21/4 x 5 ¼” layer down about ¼” from the top of the Peach Pie layer and added the smaller piece horizontally about ¾” from the left side of the card.  I stamped the sentiment “Thinking of You” from the Friendly Foliage stamp set on the open area on the bottom right with Secret Sea Ink.

Isn’t it nice to see that with a minor change you can create a totally different card.  I did that by changing the orientation of the card and designer series paper and also by adding an additional layer of cardstock to my second card.  All of these are simple changes you can play with.  I hope you enjoy these cards I certainly enjoyed making them.  As always you can find supplies to create these cards and more on my website at https://www.stampinup.com?demoid=2206796 or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.  Be sure to follow me at:
