Hello Vellum Techniques

I decided today would be an excellent day to dust off some old techniques that I learned long ago and have not been using recently.  Many of these are trusted techniques that have stood the test of time.  I have discovered that some of the ladies in my classes have never seen these before while others sigh and wonder why they stopped using them.  I focused on two techniques in this card, one was different ways to use vellum and the other was using the Stampin’ Write Markers to color directly onto the stamps to get several colors on one stamp.

Here is what I came up with…

This card used two different techniques with the vellum.  So, let’s get started, the card base is the new Polished Pink cardstock that is cut 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.  I then added a layer of Vellum that measures 4 x 5 ¼”, to add additional interest to the Vellum I used the Ornate Flowers 3D Embossing Folder to emboss it.  I am often asked how I add vellum to projects without the adhesive showing, well the best way I know to do that is to use the Multipurpose Liquid Glue and a sponge.  I put some of the glue on my handy dandy silicone mat (excess just wipes off when it dries) and use a piece of sponge.  I lightly sponge the glue all over the back of the vellum and because it is such a thin layer it is invisible once dry.

I then used the second largest of the rectangle scalloped and stitched dies for the Stitched So Sweetly Dies to cut out my Basic White layer.  I added this to the center of my card with Dimensionals.  I then stamped the pretty flower from the stamp set in the Hand-Penned Petals Bundle onto a piece of 3 x 3” Vellum cardstock using VersaMark ink.  I added the White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat set it using my Heat Tool.  Once it was all set, I die cut it using the coordinating die from the bundle.

Now it was time to color my flowers.  I flipped my vellum over and colored from the back using Stampin’ Blend Alcohol markers (I used the dark of each of the colors listed below). I used that same sponge technique to add adhesive to this and attached it to my card.  I added a simple bow that was made from the Polished Pink Ribbon using a Mini Glue dot.

For the inside of my card and my envelope I decided to show off another old but great technique.  This is where you use the Stampin’ Write Markers to color directly onto the stamp and then stamp.  This is a great way to add multipule colors to one stamp.  The stamp I used was a small flower from the Lovely You stamp set.  I used the Polished Pink and Pear Pizzazz markers to create this affect.  The inside of the card is a piece of Basic White cardstock that measures 4 x 5 ¼”.

While these may not be new techniques, they are new to many folks and it is nice to revisit the classics.  I hope you enjoy this card I certainly enjoyed making it.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and much more on my website at https://craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by click the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.

Sweet as a Peach

It is that time of the year here in North Carolina, peach season.  Well, it just happens to be one of my favorite times of the year as I love all things peach.  This morning I got up and made my hubby a peach crumble (yep same as an apple I just discovered a few years ago that you can simply change out apples for peaches and he loves it).  So, while I was upstairs in my craft room smelling all peachy wonderful waft up the stairs, I decided it was time to pull out the Sweet as a Peach bundle and get to work.

Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Balmy Blue cardstock that is cut 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.  I then cut a piece of the You’re a Peach Designer Series Paper (this one is on sale for 15% off through August 2, 2021) that measures 4 x 5 ¼” and I cut it using the largest of the scalloped rectangles from the Scalloped Contours Dies and centered it on the base.

I then cut a Basic White layer that measured 2 ¾ x 4” using another of the scalloped dies from the same set, this one is also stitched.  I stamped the sentiments “You’re as” (top left) and “sweet as a peach” on the bottom right using Pear Pizzazz ink.  I popped this up on the bottom right of the card using Dimensionals.

For my focal point I stamped two peaches from the Sweet as a Peach bundle onto scraps of Pale Papaya cardstock using Pale Papaya and Calypso Coral ink (the way I got this two-tone look is I inked my peach stamp up with Pale Papaya ink and then using a Dauber I added Calypso Coral ink around the edges, I love the way it turned out).  Since the stamp has some natural areas where it inks more and less and with the daubed calypso coral ink it sure looks realistic.  To finish off my peaches I cut them out using the dies from the bundle and gave them a shine by brushing on Wink of Stella to give them that dew kissed look (impossible to capture in photos).  I then stamped two of the of the stems and leaves onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock and cut them out using the coordinating dies.  I attached the stems and leaves to the peaches and then added them to the white layer again using Dimensionals.

For the inside of the card and the envelope I stamped one of the small branches from the bundle in Pear Pizzazz ink and added the small peaches (I inked these the same way I did the larger ones to get that two-toned affect).  Here is how that turned out.

I hope you enjoy this card I certainly enjoyed making it.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and much more on my website at https://craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by click the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.

Have a Peachy Day

Well, the peach harvest is underway in here in North Carolina and I do love me some peaches.  So, I was drawn to the Sweet as a Peach Bundle for today’s card.  I also love the coordinating Designer Series Paper called You’re a Peach which happens to be on special this month (yep, I have another pack of it arriving today can’t wait to play with it some more) and it is 15% off along with some other paper packs (head over to my website to check out which ones are on sale).

Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Calypso Coral cardstock that is cut 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.  The second layer is a cute piece of the coordinating Designer Series paper cut to 4 x 5 ¼”.  I then started getting all my design pieces together, these were stamped from the Sweet as Peach stamp set.  I stamped the leaves and stems onto Pear Pizzazz cardstock using Pear Pizzazz ink.  I stamped the peaches onto Pale Papaya cardstock, for these I used a shadow technique, I inked my stamp up with Pale Papaya ink and then using a Dauber I added a little Calypso Coral ink around the edges of the peaches.  I die cut out both the branch and leaves and the peaches using the coordinating dies from the bundle.  I added the peaches to my branches and then popped them all up with Dimensionals.  For a final touch (I so wish this would show in photographs) I brushed some Wink of Stella Glitter onto my peaches to give them that dew kissed look.

For my sentiment I stamped the sentiment “Have a Peachy day” onto a piece of the Calypso Coral cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and I die cut it with one of the adorable dies from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.  This was added to the bottom right of the card again using Dimensionals.

For the inside of the card and the envelope I simply stamped the leaves and stems in Pear Pizzazz ink and the peaches in the Pale Papaya with the Calypso Coral daubered around the edges.

I hope you enjoy this card I certainly enjoyed making it.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and much more on my website at https://craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by click the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.

Quite Meadow in Fresh Freesia

When I saw the new catalog and this Quiet Meadow Bundle, I was intrigued.  It has such a natural softness to it and I decided it would look great in the new Fresh Freesia color.

Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Fresh Freesia cardstock that is cut 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.  I then took a piece of Basic White cardstock that measured 4 x 5 ¼” and I inked the edges in Fresh Freesia ink using the Blending Brushes.  I stamped this cut antique looking type stamp from the stamp set in the bundle all over that piece again using the Fresh Freesia ink (I stamped off once on scrap paper and then stamped two or three times before reinking).  I stamped the flowers right in the center of the layer again using the Fresh Freesia ink.  I then stamped the little ink spots in several places for additional interest.

I die cut both the butterfly and the fern out of the Fresh Freesia Shimmer Vellum using the dies from the bundle.  I wrapped a piece of the 3/8” Open Weave Fresh Freesia Ribbon around this layer before attaching it to the card base.  I then stamped my sentiment “Thinking of You” from also from the bundle onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock using Fresh Freesia Ink.  I die cut it using one of the dies from the bundle as well and I added it to the center of the card right over the ribbon using Dimensionals.

To finish off the card I adhered the butterfly to the top right of the card and I cut the fern in half and tucked it under the sentiment both at the top and the bottom and adhered it to the card.

I hope you enjoy this card I certainly enjoyed making it.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and much more on my website at https://craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by click the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.
