FAUX STEP CARD

Today’s card features the Friendly Foliage Bundle yet again along with Strawberry Slush which is a color that makes me happy.  I saw a post where Cindy Lee Bee Designs created a faux step card using this set and I loved the idea so I decided to see if I could create one of my own and here is what I came up with…

The card base is Strawberry Slush cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and then scored on the 8 ½” side at 1 ¼, 2 ½, and 5 ½”.  I folded the first score line (1 ¼”) into a mountain fold and the second one (2 ½”) into a valley fold and the final one (5 ½”) into a mountain fold and used my bone folder to get all the score lines nice and crisp.  I then cut a piece of the Florals in Bloom DSP (an online exclusive) to 1 x 5 ¼” and added it to the front of my card.  Then I opened my card up and stamped the smaller branch of leaves all over both sides of the remaining area using Strawberry Slush Ink (be sure to be random when doing this for a better look).

With that done I moved onto my largest step that was my focal point.  I cut a piece of Strawberry Slush cardstock to 3 x 8 ½” and scored it at 4 ¼”.  To decorate this piece, I added another piece of the Florals in Bloom DSP that measured 2 ¾ x 4” to the front.  I then stamped the large foliage image onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock using Strawberry Slush Ink and die cut it using the coordinating dies from the bundle.  I also die cut two of the open foliage branches out of Basic White cardstock.  I adhered the focal point to the front of the card and tucked my die cut foliage pieces under it.  Then it was time for the sentiment “Sending Love” which is also from the bundle.  I stamped it onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock using Strawberry Slush Ink and then punched it out using one of the banners from the new Three Banner Punch and added it to the front of the card with Mini Dimensionals.

To finish off the card I added a bow that I created from some Iridescent Ribbon (now retired but any pretty ribbon will do) and attached it using a Mini Glue Dot.  I added three Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels (also retired but the regular Rhinestone Basic Jewels would look great as well).

For the back I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 2 3/4 x4” and stamped one small stem of the foliage stamp on the corner again with Strawberry Slush Ink (this is perfect for my message).  Because this is a “faux” step card it was much easier to create than the original step cards making it great for a fast and easy card.

I hope you enjoy this card I certainly enjoyed making it.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and more on my website at https://www.stampinup.com?demoid=2206796 or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.  Be sure to follow me at:
