Today’s card features the Sunrise Sailing Dies (the dies are included with the awesome hybrid embossing folder) that are an Online Exclusive and the Beautiful Gallery Designer Series Paper from the Annual Catalog. While these two products were not created to be used together as soon as I saw this paper in the Beautiful Gallery Designer Series Paper Pack I knew it would be great with the Sunrise Sailing. Then I saw an easel card on Pinterest that Mikaela Titheridge created using these products and even though I didn’t want to create an easel card I knew I could adapt the design element to create a regular card.
Here is what I came up
with…
The card base is Secret Sea cardstock cut
to 4 ¼ x 11” and scored at 5 ½”. Next, I
set out to cut up my Designer Series Paper (DSP) just the way I would need to
use it. I took the 6 x 6” DSP and cut it
first to 2 x 6” then I cut that piece down to 2 x 3 ¼”. I used the back side of the scrap left from
this cut to die cut the boats hull and mast (the back side looks like wood
grain). I cut the remaining 4 x 6” piece
of DSP to 4 x 5 ¼” this is for the front of the card. The remaining ¾ x 4” strip is saved for the
inside of the card.
With the DSP all cut it was time to cut my
cardstock. I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock
to 2 ¼ x 3 ½” and a piece of Secret Sea cardstock to 2 ½ x 3 ¾”. I layered my 2 x 3 ¼” piece of DSP onto the
Basic White and then layered that onto the Secret Sea. With everything layered I grabbed my card
base and popped the layered pieces onto the center of it using Dimensionals. I die cut the sails for the boat out of a
scrap of Basic Beige and then attached them to the mast of the boat that I
previously cut out of the DSP and attached the boat to the front of the card. I used a small scrap of Basic Gray to die cut three sea birds to add to the card as well.
For the inside I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 4 x 4 ¼” and added my strip of the DSP that measured ¾ x 4” to it. Did you notice something? No stamping on this card! I decided not to add a sentiment but to have this card on hand when I needed a masculine card, whether it be a birthday, retirement or just thinking of you card. Quick and easy to create and it uses minimal products.
