BLESSED BEGINNINGS COLLAPSIBLE COLUMN CARD

Today’s card features the Blessed Beginnings Bundle from the new Online Exclusives.  I really like the simplicity of this bundle for Easter but it also makes great Wedding, and Baptism cards.  I was looking for something fun to do with the set that would stand out a bit for my crafting friends I send cards to.  I so a video that Susan Campfield did using another set and she called the fun fold a Collapsible Column so I decided to give it a whirl using this set.

Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Basic White cardstock cut to 4 ¼ x 11” and scored at 5 ½”.  Next, I created the column using Basic White cardstock cut to 4 ¼ x 6” and scored at ½, 1 ¾, 3, 4 ¼ and 5 ½”.  The two ½” scores are valley folded and the other three are mountain folded.  Once that was together, I added it to the front of my card by closing it and centering it on the front.  I adhered each of the ½” score lines directly to the center of the card butted right up against one another.

I went ahead at this point and stamped my church onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and colored it in using Lemon Lolly (dark), Crumb Cake (light) and Smoky Slate (light) Stampin’ Blend Markers.  I also cut the eves, the cross and the front door out of a scrap of Pecan Pie cardstock.  I adhered the eve and cross directly onto the church but used a Dimensional to pop up the door.

Before adding any of the embossed layers I added my tabs that would secure the church to the column.  I cut Basic White cardstock to ¾ x 1” and scored it at ½” on the 1” side (x2) and figured out where I would want them on the column so that my church would be in the right location (for me that was about 2 3/8” from the top of the card.  I adhered one to each side of the card butting them up against one another.

Now it was time for the layers.  I cut Basic White cardstock to 2 ½ x 4 (2 each) and 1 x 4” (4 each) and embossed them using the Damask Designs Embossing Folder.  I adhered each of the larger pieces to the front of the card and each of the smaller pieces to the front of the column.  Now all that I needed to finish the front of the card was to add the church.  It was simply adhered to the two tabs on the column allowing it to “float”.

For the inside of the card, I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼” and stamped the sentiments “EASTER” and “Blessings” from the bundle onto it using Lost Lagoon Ink.  I added a little ¾ x 5 ¼” strip of Timeless Plaid Designer Series Paper to the inside layer as well for extra color and interest.

I hope you enjoy this card I certainly enjoyed making it.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and more on my website at https://www.stampinup.com?demoid=2206796 or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.  Be sure to follow me at:
