THINKING OF YOU FROM THE TREE TOPS

Today’s card features the Wintery Tree Tops Bundle along with the Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper and the new Natural Tones Linen Thread.  I love this DSP and I especially love that the dies in the bundle coordinate with and cut out some of the birds on the paper.  So that was what I wanted to show off today.

Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Basic Gray cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  I then cut a piece of the Nests of Winter DSP (I love this one that looks like tree bark) to 3 ½ x 5” and a piece of Gray Granite to the same size.  I used the die from the bundle to cut the Gray Granite branches out (this die makes a great layer) and then I attached the branch layer to my DSP and wrapped a piece of the Garden Green thread from the Natural Tones Linen Thread around it and tied a bow.  With that all done I just popped that whole layer up with Dimensionals and added it to my card base.  I stamped my sentiment “thinking of you always” onto a piece of Gray Granite cardstock that measured 7/8 x 2 ½” using Basic Gray Ink.  I cut a piece of Basic Gray cardstock to 1 x 2 5/8” and added my sentiment layer to that, then I popped that up with Dimensionals and placed it in the left bottom corner.  For the final piece I used one of the dies from the bundle to cut out the cute little bird and popped it up with Dimensionals and tucked it in under the top of the sentiment.

For the inside of the card, I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼” and stamped that same bird from the stamp set and used Water Color Pencils to color it in.  I used Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Basic Gray and Basic Black pencils (those don’t all come from the same set but you could alter your colors to use just one of the sets of pencils).  I also used a Blending Pen to smooth out my watercolor pencil lines.

I hope you enjoy this card I certainly enjoyed making it.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and more on my website at https://www.stampinup.com?demoid=2206796 or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.  Be sure to follow me at:
