Subtle Differences

I started out to create a Christmas card that was created with Night of Navy and White but as the card came together, I decided I would have liked to have added a little more sparkle to it so I ended up creating two cards.  They are made the same way with just a little subtle difference.  I would love to know which one you prefer.

Here they are…

The card base is Night of Navy cardstock that is cut 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.  I cut a second piece of Night of Navy cardstock that measured 4 x 5 ¼” and I embossed it using the Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder.  I then cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 4 ¼ x 5 ½” and I cut out my layer from the Merriest Moments Bundle, once it was cut, I put it inside the coordinating Embossing Folder that comes with the bundle and embossed it.  I added this layer to the front of the card using both Dimensionals and Mini Dimensionals (you can cut the regular sized ones down but the mini’s are so convenient).  I added a piece of Silver Foil that measured 2 1/8 x 2 7/8” to the front of my embossed layer.  I then used the rectangle die from the set to cut the center out of Night of Navy cardstock (about 2 ¼ x 3”).  For the first card I stamped the sentiment “A Joyful Christmas to you & yours” onto my Night of Navy with Versamark ink and then added White Stampin’ Emboss powder and set it using my Heat Tool.  I adhered this over the silver piece and added three little Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Now for the second card the change I made was to stamp another sentiment “Hark The Herald Angels Sing (I love this font) from the For Unto Us stamp set onto the Night of Navy piece using Versamark ink and then added Silver Stampin’ Emboss powder and set it using my Heat Tool.  I adhered this over the silver piece and again used three Rhinestone Basic Jewels, the difference here is I used different sized jewels and added one to the center of my star.

I love how both of them turned out and isn’t it cool how a subtle change can make a difference.  I hope you enjoy these cards I certainly enjoyed making them.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and much more on my website at https://craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by click the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.

Calypso Coral and Night Of Navy

I was playing around with some cardstock samples and was really surprised to see how these two colors really complement one another so I knew it was time to make a card using them.  I had the Nature’s Harvest stamp set and the Stitched Greenery die laying on my craft table so I went to work.

Here is what I came up with…

The card is very basic but the best part is since I didn’t and a sentiment at this time, I can pop it into my card rack and simply grab it and add a sentiment when I need a card.  These types of cards are some of my favorites to make.  I like do this with a box set of cards and including numerous different sentiments that have Dimensionals on them and the recipient can simply add the sentiment they need (i.e., Happy Birthday, Thinking of You, Get Well Soon) and send them off.  These sets make great gifts as well.

So, let’s talk about how the card was made.  The card base is Night of Navy cardstock that is cut 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.  I added a layer of Calypso Coral cardstock that measures 4 x 5 ¼” that I ran through the die cutting machine using the Stitched Greenery Die (I love this look).

Next I stamped the flowers from the Nature’s Harvest stamp set onto a piece of Basic White cardstock that measured about 3 x 3” using Night of Navy ink and I die cut it using one of the Layering Circles Dies.  Next I die cut the next larger scalloped circle from the dies using Night of Navy cardstock which was about 3 ½ x 3 ½”.  I adhered those two circles together and popped them up on the center of the card using Dimensionals.

I hope you enjoy this card I certainly enjoyed making it.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and much more on my website at https://craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by click the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.

Healing Thoughts

It seems like I am using more and more sympathy cards these days (I guess that is part of growing older).  I like to keep several on hand that I have completed except for the inside (I like to personalize this to the recipient.  This sentiment “Sending healing thoughts, may nature’s beauty bring peace to your sole” from the Nature’s Harvest bundle is beautiful.  I thought it could be used for many things including a sympathy card (even for the loss of a beloved pet) so I decided to work with the sentiment and create a card.

Here is what I came up with…

I have recently been drawn to the Stampin’ Up! products in Blackberry Bliss, I think it is because the it seems like a fall color to me.  So here is how I created this card.  The card base is Blackberry Bliss cardstock that is cut 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.  I added a layer of Designer Series Paper from the Pattern Party package (this can only be purchased with Hostess Rewards but it is a great deal as you get 48 sheets, 4 each of 12 double side designs) you could also use one of the beautiful pieces of Designer Series Paper from the Harvest Meadow package (item number 156494) that coordinates with the bundle.  This layer is 4 x 5 ¼”.

Next, using the dies from the Nature’s Harvest Bundle I die cut two of the cute stems from the bundle out of Blackberry Bliss scraps.  Then I stamped my flowers from the stamp set onto a piece of Very Vanilla (about 2 ¾ x 4 ¼”) using Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored it using the Stampin’ Blends listed below.  I adhered my Blackberry Bliss stems directly to the DSP layer and then used both Diminsionals and Mini Diminsionals to add my flowers over them.  For the finishing touch I stamped my sentiment onto a scrap of Crushed Curry cardstock using Blackberry Bliss ink and die cut it using one of the dies from the bundle, then I adhered it to the card front using Dimensionals.

I hope you enjoy this card I certainly enjoyed making it.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and much more on my website at https://craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by click the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.

A Little Note

I often find myself wanting to send a simple note.  Not a card that is celebrating something or even a get-well card.  Just a simple card to say hello and that I am thinking of them.  Today I decided to do just that.  I wanted a card that was versatile enough to be sent to either a male or female, young or old.

Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Early Espresso cardstock that is cut to 4 ¼ x 11” and scored at 5 ½” scored at 4 ¼”.  I then took a piece of Soft Suede cardstock that measured 4 x 5 ¼” and I sued the Stitched Greenery Die (don’t you love that affect) to die cut little stitched leaves all over the layer.  I added this to my card base.

Next I took a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock that measured 1 ¾ x 5 ¼” and I stamped my image from the Enjoy The Moment stamp set using Memento Rich Cocoa (Stampin’ Up! no longer sells this but you could also use one of the numerous brown colors Stampin’ Up! still offers).  I colored the image in using Soft Suede Stampin’ Blends.  I then used the Light Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blend marker to add a shadow to the left side of the image.  To tone down the blue just a bit I also went over it with the Stampin’ Blend Color Lifter marker.  I added this to a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock that measured 2 x 5 ¼”.

I stamped the sentiment “a little note…” also from the Enjoy the Moment stamp set onto Very Vanilla cardstock using Calypso Coral ink.  I then die cut it using one of the Tailor Made Tags Dies.  I also added the hole reinforcer that I die cut out of a scrap of Calypso Coral cardstock.  I wrapped the panel with the image with Linen Thread and then threaded that through my tag and tied a knot.  I did pop the sentiment up with some Dimensionals as well.

I hope you enjoy this card I certainly enjoyed making it.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and much more on my website at https://craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by click the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.
