More Sand & Sea Suite

I have been highlighting different products from the Sand & Sea Suite in the new January – June Mini catalog.  This card was created to share with my card club and I am sure the ladies will really enjoy working with the Seashells 3 D Embossing Folder, Friends Are Like Seashells bundle and the Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper.  So here is what I created using those products…

I started with a Very Vanilla card base that measured 8 ½ x 5 ½” and was scored at 4 ¼”.  I added a layer of the Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper (DSP) that measured 4 x 5 ¼”, I chose one that is a blue marbled look.  I then die cut the large image from the die in the bundle out of the new Pearlescent Specialty Paper (I just love that pearl shine).  I took that die cut and lined it up inside the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder and embossed it.

I adhered my Designer Series Paper to my card base, centered my die cut and embossed shells on the top.  I then took a strip of another design within the DSP (love the colors in this one) and cut a strip that measured 1 ½ x 4 ¼” and placed it across the card (I did not center it because I wanted to show as much of the embossed shells as possible).  I then took a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and stamped my sentiment which is from the stamp set in the bundle with Seaside Spray ink.  I then punched it out using the Timeless Label Punch.  I also punched out a label from Seaside Spray card stock, this one I cut in half and attached behind my sentiment just letting about ¼” show on either end.  I used dimensionals and popped the sentiment up.  For my final embellishment I used the Opal Rounds embellishments which are also a coordinating product in this suite to add a little interest (one large on the sentiment tag and two smaller ones on the strip but those are hard to see in the picture but pop in person).

Friends Are Like Seashells Bundle and Vellum

I have been highlighting different ideas using the Sand & Sea Suite of products from the new January – June Mini catalog.  Today I am working with the Stamp and Die bundle and the coordinating 3D Embossing Folder.  So here is what I created using those products…

I wanted this card to open vertically so I created my card base from Misty Moonlight cardstock that I cut 4 ¼ x 11” and scored at 5 ½”.  I then die cut my large shell die from the bundle out of just Basic White card stock and I stamped the shells using Bumblebee, Just Jade, Misty Moonlight, Highland Heather, and Melon Mambo.  I then used Sponge Daubers to add Pear Pizzazz, Garden Green and Bermuda Bay ink to my seaweed. 

Once this layer was stamped, I set it aside and went to work on my vellum layer.  I cut a piece of Vellum Cardstock to 4 ¼ x 5 ½” and embossed it with the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder.  With that done it was now time to simply align my die cut layer to my embossed layer.  I did this using Mini Glue Dots (tip, try to hide your glue dots in inconspicuous places, such as where your ribbon, sentiment and embellishments are going to be placed).  With those adhered to one another I wrapped a piece of the Misty Moonlight ¼” ribbon around the layer and tied a bow.  Then I attached this layer to the card base.

For my final touches I cut my little sentiment tag from a die that is part of the Tasteful Labels Dies (there are some great dies in this set for use with sentiments) and I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set in the bundle using Misty Moonlight ink and tucked it up under my bow.  I added some of the Misty Moonlight enamel dots from the In Color Enamel Dots and that finished off my card.

Seashells 3D Embossing Folder meets Frost White Shimmer Paint

I previously said I am really loving the Sand & Sea Suite of products from the new  January – June Mini catalog.  I want to spend the next few days really highlighting what the products in the suite can make.  Today I am focusing on the beautiful Seashells 3D Embossing Folder.      

Here is what I created with it…  

I wanted to mount my card front which was embossed onto a card base that was created from Basic White cardstock.  So, the card base is Basic White cardstock that is cut 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.  I then cut a piece of the Seaside Spray cardstock to 4 ¼ x 5 ½” and embossed it using the Seashells 3D Embossing folder.  Once it was embossed, I poured a little of the Frost White Shimmer Paint onto my Silicone Craft Sheet and picked it up using one of the new Blender Brushes.  I was careful to not overload the brush.  I just brushed the areas I wanted to highlight, softer on the seaweed and a little heavier on the shells.  I love the affect; too bad you can’t see the pearlescent shine the paint leaves on the paper. 

I wrapped some of the Seaside Spray ¼” Metallic Ribbon around the top of this layer and tied it in a little square knot.  For my sentiment I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 1 x 3 ½” and dove tailed the two ends with the Banner Triple Punch.  I stamped the sentiment from the Friends are Like Seashells stamp set from the suite using Seaside Spray ink and added it over my ribbon using Dimensionals.  For my final touch I added a number of the Pearls Basic Jewels.

Pearlized Paper Meets Blending Brushes

This week I am going to show you some fun cards using the new Sand & Sea Suite from the January – June Mini catalog.  The suite has some really beautiful products including a die and coordinating 3D Embossing Folder that make some amazing shells.  For today’s card I used several of the products in the suite.      

And here is what I came up with…

The card base is Soft Suede cardstock that is cut 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.  I added a layer of Rococo Rose that measured 4 1/8 x 5 3/8" and a layer of the Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper (DSP) that measures 4 x 5 ¼” (I liked that it looked like sand to me).  Next, I stamped my sentiment from the stamp set in the Friends are Like Seashells bundle directly onto the DSP in the top left corner using Soft Suede ink. 

To create my shells and seaweed I used the large die from the Friends are Like Seashells bundle and cut it out of the new Pearlescent Specialty Paper (I wish you could see the pearl shine, it is just awesome).  Once I had it cut out, I placed the paper into the coordinating Seashells 3D Embossing Folder and embossed the whole thing.  Once that was all done, I took my paper snips and cut the pieces apart so I could arrange them the way I wanted them on my card (it is really easy to do). 

With everything cut I moved onto coloring.  To color the shells and seaweed I used the new Blending Brushes and added color to each of them, just tap them onto your ink pad and then starting off your shells swirl onto them keeping a light touch on the brushes. I used Early Espresso, Pear Pizzazz, Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Rococo Rose and Soft Seafoam inks to color them (TIP:  seashells are not all one color so don’t be afraid to do a little blending).  I added my shells using dimensionals to pop them up and then tucked my seaweed in under and around them. 

For the inside of the card, I simply stamped a couple of the shells (remember odd numbers are more pleasing to the eye) with Rococo Rose and Seaside Spray (both in colors that will be retiring in June so if you love them get them now) in the bottom left corner of a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock that measures 4 x 5 1/4".  I added my sentiment from the same bundle at the center top using Soft Suede ink.  Here is what that looks like…
