SAYING IT ELEGANTLY

Today I wanted to feature another group of retiring products which includes the Elegantly Said Bundle and the Simply Elegant Designer Series Paper.  Here is what I ended up with…

The card base is Basic Black cardstock that is cut to 4 ¼ x 11” and scored at 5 1/2”.  I then cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 4 x 3 ½” and used the edge die from the Scalloped Contours dies (there are some great dies in this set and I use it all the time) to cut the scallops at the bottom of the piece.  I stamped my sentiment from the bundle onto the bottom left corner of the Basic White cardstock using Basic Gray ink and I added the beautiful flourish from the set in the upper right corner again using Basic Gray ink. 

I adhered this to a piece of the Designer Series Paper that I cut to 4 x 5 ¼”.  Because I wanted to pop this whole layer up using Dimensionals I did add an additional piece of cardstock to the back that measures 3 ¾ x 5” (this just makes this layer a little firmer) and I wrapped a piece of the silver Simply Elegant Trim around this layer and tied a bow.  I added the layer to the card base using Dimensionals.  For my final addition I added three little Metallic Pearls.

Retiring Products

Today I stayed on the theme of showing off a card that was created using products that are retiring on May 3^rd and are currently on clearance.  Today’s card features a retiring stamp set called Enjoy the Moment which was $23. but is currently on sale for $18.40.  I used two different Designer Series Papers on this card, In Good Taste which is 12 x 12” paper that was $21 and is now on sale for $12.60 (this is a great neutral paper and especially good for masculine cards) and the 2021 – 2023 In Color Designer Series Paper which was $11.50 and is now on sale for just $6.90.   

Here’s what I ended up with…

The card base is Evening Evergreen cardstock that is cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  I added a layer of DSP from the In Good Taste pack that is 4 x 5 ¼” and then I cut and added a strip of the Evening Evergreen colored paper from the 2021 – 2023 In Color Designer Series Paper that is 2 x 5 ½” just off the left side of the card.  Next, I die cut some ovals, one from Very Vanilla cardstock and the scalloped one from Evening Evergreen cardstock (these dies have retired and are no longer available but there are lots of other shapes that could be used including just cutting them yourself in the shape of a rectangle or square).  I stamped my image onto the oval using Evening Evergreen ink and added the two together and popped them up on my card using Dimensionals.  Next, I die cut the smallest tag from the Tailor Made Tags dies out of Very Vanilla cardstock and the little circle from the die was cut out of Evening Evergreen cardstock.  I stamped the sentiment “a little note…” which is from the same stamp set I used before onto it with Evening Evergreen ink.  I wrapped a little piece of Linen Thread around it and made a bow.  I added this using Dimensionals as well.

For the inside I cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼” and stamped another of the images from the set onto one corner using Evening Evergreen ink.  I took that same stamp set and ink and stamped the image all over the flap of my envelope.

Crane of Fortune Fun Fold

Today I wanted to feature the Crane of Fortune bundle along with the beautiful Symbols of Fortune Designer Series Paper.  So, I decided to do that by creating a fun fold card. 

Here’s what I ended up with…

There are a number of pieces to this card so let us start out by cutting and scoring are pieces.  Here are the cutting instructions: 

Smoky Slate Cardstock: 

Card Base, 4-1/4" x 10-1/2", scored at 5-1/2", 6-3/4", 8-3/4", 10"

Card Front, 2-1/2" x 6, scored at 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" 

Basic Gray Cardstock for layers:

4 x 5 ¼”, 4 x 1 ¾”m 2 ¼ x 4” and 1 x 4 ¼” 

Designer Series Paper:

3 ¾ x 5”, 3 ¾ x 1 ½” and 2 x 3 ¾”

Now that everything is cut let’s assemble.  Start by reinforcing all the score lines.  Add your Layers and Designer Series Paper as seen in the photo (Do this before adhering anything together).  Now once you have all your layers and Designer Series Paper on, we can start to assemble.  Here are the assembly steps (this is just a mock up so remember yours should already have your layers and DSP attached:

 Step 1 – this is your card base; score well, flip over and add adhesive, then close as shown, this should create a box. 

    

Step 2 – This is the card front: score well, attach the bottom of the card front to the bottom of the card base as shown in the second picture, add adhesive and bring the card together as shown here, this will create another box.

  

And here is what it should look like:

Now that is all the construction and we can get on with the decorating.  On my piece of Gray Granite that measured ¾ x 4” I stamped my sentiment “Wishing a lifetime of Happiness & a world full of Love” to the center of it with Smoky slate Basic Gray ink.  I then dove tailed both it and the 1 x 4 ¼” Gray Granite pieces using the Banners Pick a Punch.  I stamped the crane from the bundle onto a piece of Basic White cardstock using Basic Gray ink and die cut it with the coordinating die from the bundle.  I attached the crane right to the front of the card and then attached my sentiment over it using Dimensionals.

For the back of my card, I added a piece of Basic White cardstock that measured 4 x 5 ¼” and a Gingko branch that was die cut using the die from the bundle out of Gold Foil.  I stamped my envelope with the flower from the stamp set using Basic Gray ink.

In Colors and Shimmer Vellum

I just love the shimmer vellum so I decided to use it again.  I created these cards yesterday but didn’t get a chance to write up a blog post because I had to teach a card class (my favorite thing to do) so I wanted to share them today.  I have been trying to use some of the retiring products so that I can show you some fun things you can do with items that are currently on clearance.  Today’s cards feature the 2021 – 2023 In Colors and while they are not retiring some of the products featuring them are.  Specifically in these cards I used the Shimmery Vellum and In Color Gems both of which are not only retiring but they are on sale right now (while supplies last).   

Here’s what I ended up with…

All of these cards are created exactly the same way you just change the color of the cardstock and the ink used in each one.  So, the card bases are all Basic White cardstock that is cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  I then cut panels that measure 4 x 5 ¼” in each of the colors, Pale Papaya, Magenta Madness, Fresh Freesia, Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen.  I took each of those panels and using stamps from the Quiet Meadow stamp set I added images stamped in the coordinating ink color to give me a tone-on-tone affect.  I used the words, the floral spray and the ink spots to do this.  Once that was done, I adhered these panels to the card bases.  Next, I cut strips of the Shimmer Vellum (man do I wish the pictures showed that awesome shimmer better) in each of the five colors to 2 x 5 ½” and adhered them to the front of the card as shown in the photos above.  Next, using the Meadow Dies I die cut 5 each of the flowers shown on the cards and five each of the labels shown on the cards out of Basic White cardstock.  I adhered the flowers to the cards and then stamped my sentiment “Thinking of You” onto each of the labels using the coordinating ink color.  I popped those sentiments up on the cards using Dimensionals.  I also added three each of the coordinating 2021 – 2023 In Color Jewels to each card and a little White Twine Ribbon bow was added to the sentiment label with a Glue Dot.
