Creating Your Own Designer Series Paper

I created my own Designer Series Paper using the Dahlia Days stamp set from Stampin’ Up!  I used Polished Pink and Soft Succulent inks and papers and I love how it turned out.  

Here it is…

The card base is Soft Succulent cardstock that is cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.  I added a layer of Polished Pink cardstock that measured 4 x 5 ¼”.  I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 3 ¾ x 5” and stamped the Dahlia’s from the stamp set in the Dahlia Days bundle all over it using Polished Pink ink.  I then added the two different leaves shown by stamping them in Soft Succulent ink.  Before adding this to the card base I wrapped a piece of the 3/8” Soft Succulent Open Weave Ribbon around it and tied a square knot over on the right side.  I stamped my little label also from the bundle onto Basic White cardstock (these kinds of things are perfect for using up your cardstock scraps in Polished Pink ink and die cut it using the coordinating die from the bundle.  I added my sentiment “just a little hi from me” from the Special Moments stamp set (this is a free stamp set with 21 different sentiments that you can earn with a $100 qualifying order as part of the Sale-a-bration campaign which is going on from now through the 28^th of February) in Soft Succulent ink and I added it to my card using Mini Dimensionals. 

For the inside I simply cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼” and in the corner I stamped a Dahlia in Polished Pink and two leaves in Soft Succulent.

Calming Camellia

I received the beautiful Calming Camellia stamp set as a free host gift and so of course I started looking around for ideas on how to use it.  I found a great pin from Lisa Freeman that inspired me.  I have taught this technique before but think I will have to revisit it with my ladies using this beautiful stamp set (we used the Celebrating Sunflowers the last time we did it, posted on February 26, 2021 if you want to check it out)    

Here is what the finished card looks like…

So, before we start let’s talk about the ribbon used on this card.  It is the Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon and it has been stamped (yes stamped) over and over with the Camellia stamp and Misty Moonlight ink.  The one thing I do want to say is to do this first and set it aside so it has plenty of time to dry so it doesn’t smear on your card.  I did this technique for coloring ribbon the first time during a Stampin’ Up! Onstage Event in Atlanta, pretty neat idea to make that white ribbon super versatile. 

The card base is Basic White cardstock that is cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.  I then cut a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼” and 2 x 2 ½”.  I stamped the camellia from the set once on the small piece and several times on the larger piece using Night of Navy ink.  I then pressed one of my small clear blocks into my Whisper White Craft Stampin’ Pad and picked up some of the white ink onto the block (you may have to do this more than once to color everything in).  I used my blender pen to pick up that white ink and paint in different areas of the camellia’s.

The next thing I did was cut a piece of Basic White cardstock using one of the Scalloped Contour Dies (third largest but if you don't have the die you could use a rectangle cut to about 2 1/2 x 3 3/4").  I wrapped the ribbon around the right side and tied it in a square knot then I added my smaller piece of painted cardstock.  I popped this whole piece up on the center of the card.

Crane of Fortune Arrow Fold Card

I have made this card once before using the Eden’s Garden Collection (November 18, 2021) so when I saw the beautiful products in the Sympols of Fortune Collection I just knew I had to make it again.  This collection is amazing and the Specialty Designer Series Paper is breathtaking.

Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Gray Granite cardstock that is cut 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.  Once that is scored there are a number of other measurements and scores that are needed to create the arrow.  I thought it would be easier to show a diagram that to try to explain everything.  Here it is…

Mark the bottom center at 2 ¾” and each of the sides at 2 1/8” from the bottom and score as shown above.  Once you have these scores the inside score lines are folded toward the center.  Then the shorter score lines are folded out (this is what creates the arrow).  Be sure to burnish your score lines individually and well to get a good crisp crease.  Now fold the card together and burnish the arrow once again from the front.  I found using a little glue under the flaps made the card lay better. 

Now it is time to decorate.  We are going to start with our Designer Series Paper.  This Symbols of Fortune Specialty Designer Series Paper is just beautiful.  Previously I selected a paper that is two sided and who’s sides compliment one another like this one but this time I decided to use the same paper on the inside and the outside.  Cut your DSP to 4 x 5” (be sure to be mindful of the pattern, one that is non-directional is much easier to use for this card).  See the diagram below for cutting the DSP…

 

Mark the bottom center at 2 ½” and cut up to the top corners.  The largest triangle will cover the top of your arrow and the two smaller ones will become the side pieces.  Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock just like this and use the larger triangle for the inside of your card (see the photo below of the inside and the envelope) save the other two to use on some other project.  Adhere the DSP to the card and the white cardstock to the inside. 

To decorate my card I started by cutting one of the flowers from the Crane of Fortune Bundle from Gold Foil.  The using the coordinating stamp set from the bundle I stamped my crane onto a piece of Basic White cardstock using Smoky Slate ink and die cut it using the coordinating die from the bundle.  I attached him over the flowers using Dimensionals and Mini Dimensionals.  For my final touch I added four Gilded Gems (two to each side of the arrow.

Pool Party Friendly Hello

I have been having some fun making cards with some of the free products I earned when I ordered during the Sale-a-bration promotion (going on now through February 28^th).  Today’s card was created using the Designer Series Paper and Stamp Set called Friendly Hello that are a bundle that you can earn for free with a qualifying $100 purchase during Sale-a-bration.

Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Basic Black cardstock that is cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.  I cut a piece of Pool Party cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼” and stamped the leaf design from the Hello Friendly stamp set all over it using Pool Party ink.  I then embossed it using the Tasteful Textures Embossing Folder and added it to my card base.  I cut a strip of the coordinating Friendly Hello Designer Series Paper that measured 2 x 5 ¼” and attached it across the center of the card.  I stamped my image of the bird on the branch (also from that stamp set) onto a piece of Basic White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I added just a hint of color to each of the flowers with my Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blend marker.  I then die cut this using the Layering Circles Dies.  I also cut the next larger scalloped circle out of Basic Black cardstock and layered the two pieces.  This was attached to the left side of the card.  Next I stamped my sentiment (also from the stamp set) onto a piece of Basic White cardstock that measured ¾ x 3” again using the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink (I kept my sentiment to the right so I could flag the left side).  I then cut a piece of basic Black to 1 x 3 ¼”, I layered my white sentiment piece on top of it with the left sides together and cut a flag through both pieces so they would match up perfectly.  I attached the two together, added Dimensionals and put it on my card.  For the final addition on the front of the card I added 3 Matte Black Dots. 

For the inside of my card I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼” and stamped the leaves from the stamp set on the bottom right corner (twice) using Pool Party Ink.  For the envelope I stamped a single set of the leaves again using Pool Party Ink.

Miss You

I just love the new Honeybee Home Bundle.  It coordinates so great with all the same Designer Series Paper and Embellishments as the Blessings of Home Bundle so it is like getting two for one with supplies.  Today I set out to try to use some of the different coordinating supplies. 

Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Basic White cardstock that is cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.  I cut a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼” and embossed it using the Hive 3D Embossing Folder.  I then cut out a rectangle from the Heart & Home Designer Series Paper using the Rectangle Stitched dies (if you don't have the dies you can cut it to 3 x 4 1/2").  To this I added one of the Heart & Home Doilies (I chose the Cinnamon Cider one).  I then stamped two of the bees from the stamp set and the flower onto some Basic White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and die cut them using the coordinating dies from the bundle.  I also used one of the dies to cut some foliage out of Bumble Bee cardstock.  I colored in my flowers and bees using the Stampin’ Blends listed below.  I attached the flowers and the foliage right onto the doily but I popped my bee’s up with Dimensionals.

For the sentiment I cut the Basic White cardstock using the Messages Dies (I just put the paper down on the label I wanted to cut but remember you can use any die, punch or simply cut a square or rectangle) and then I added my sentiment “Miss You” from the stamp set in the bundle using Misty Moonlight Ink.  I also popped this up with Dimensionals.  For my final addition I added three of the Classic Matte Dots. 

For the inside and for my envelope I added a cute little bee that I colored using those blends.
