Today’s card features the Storybook Friends Bundle and the Storybook Moments Designer Series Paper along with a double technique. I saw a bloghop where Cheryll Miller of Australia did a double embossing technique. She didn’t post exactly how she did it but with a little trial and error I finally figured it out so I wanted to share how it was done with all of you.
Here is what I came up
with…
The card base is Pretty Peacock cardstock
cut to 4 ¼ x 11” and scored at 5 ½”. I
added a layer of Berry Burst cardstock that measured 4 1/8 x 5 3/8”. Next, I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock
to 4 x 5 ¼” and using Blending Brushes I layered on Pretty Peacock, Lost
Lagoon, Berry Burst and Blackberry Bliss ink.
Once that was done, I set this layer aside for a while to allow the ink
to dry some.
I found the paper in the Storybook Moments
DSP that had all the adorable little cottages on it and I used one of the frame
dies from the Storybook Friends Bundle to cut an oval out of it for the inside
of the frame. I inked the edges of that
piece with Wild Wheat Ink using a Dauber to give it an antique look. Then I took that same frame die and cut it
out of Distressed Gold 12 x 12” Specialty Paper and added the cottage image to
the center of it. I grabbed a scrap of
Pretty Peacock cardstock and stamped the sentiment “EASTER GREETINGS” onto it
with VersaMark Ink and added Gold Metallics WOW! Embossing Powder and heat set
it. Once that was done I used the
Stylish Shapes Dies and cut it out.
Time to revisit that piece of Basic White
cardstock that me inked up using the Blending Brushes. I took it and embossed it with the Distressed
Tile 3D Embossing Folder (1st of the embossing techniques) once that
was done, I carefully slide my VersaMark Ink pad over some areas of the paper adding
just a little ink here and there. I
added some of the Gold embossing powder from the Metallics WOW! Embossing
Powder on those areas and heat embossed it (the 2nd of the embossing
techniques). Now here is a warning. The first time I did this I got way too much
of the embossing ink on the paper and when I added the embossing powder it
covered up all the color and made it very one dimensional. You just want enough to accent it not cover
up the colors.
Time to put it all together. I added my inked, embossed and gold embossed
layer to my Berry Burst layer. Then I
added Dimensionals to my sentiment and added that to the bottom right of my
card. I added Dimensionals to my frame
and added that towards the top left of my card.
For the inside of my card, I stamped one
of the cute bunnies from the Storybook Friends stamp set onto a piece of Very Vanilla
cardstock that measures 4 x 5 ¼” using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I colored him in with Stampin’ Blends, Ivory,
Bubble Bath, Old Olive and Medium are the colors I used (I did the same thing
on my envelope).
