Simple Stepped Up

I have been working on cards that are classy but not too terribly labor intense as many of us get overwhelmed with all that we need to do as we near the holiday season.

Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Cherry Cobbler cardstock that is cut 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.  For the second layer I cut Whisper White cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼” I stamped my sentiment “Merry Christmas” from the Poinsettia Petals Bundle using Cherry Cobbler Ink and then I embossed it using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder (I love these 3D folders and the simplicity of this one is perfect for backgrounds).  I then used the coordinating dies from the bundle and cut one each of the three different sizes of the poinsettia (best part is that it cuts and embosses all those beautiful veins at the same time) from Cherry Cobbler cardstock.  I also cut two of the larger leaves and two of the berry sprigs from the Silver Foil.

I used my bonefolder to give all my petals and leaves a little shape, once they were shaped, I added some sparkle to them.  To make them sparkle I added three drops of Champaign Shimmer Paint into my Stampin’ Spritzer and then filled it about 90% of the way with Isopropyl Alcohol and shook and sprayed, and wow (it’s like wink of stella on steroids).

To assemble the card, I simply added the poinsettia leaves on top of one another staggering them so there were no empty spots.  Once I had my poinsettia done, I placed it on the center of my card and began to add my silver foliage tucked up under it.  I adhered the sprigs directly to the card front but added dimensionals under the leaves.  As a final touch I added one of the Beaded Pear Embellishments using a glue dot (I think it makes the card).

This card was a lot of fun to make so I I hope you enjoy it as well.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and much more on my website at https://craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by click the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.

Clean and Simple Christmas Card

Are you looking for a fast, simple and easy Christmas card that can still wow those who receive it this year?  Well let me tell you it is easier than you think.  This card is beautiful in person and better yet it is fast and easy to make.

What makes this card so simple is a beautiful 3D Embossing Folder called Evergreen Forest.  Now let me tell you this folder paired with the Gold Foil Sheets (I think any of the foils would be gorgeous with this embossing folder) along with some of the beautiful Shaded Spruce ribbon from the Wonder of the Season Ribbon Combo Pack make this card a no brainer.

The card base is Real Red cardstock that is cut 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.  I cut a layer of Shaded Spruce that measured 4 x 5 ¼” and then to that I added a layer of the Gold Foil that measured 3 ¾ x 5” that I simply embossed with the Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder.  I adhered the gold foil layer to the shaded spruce layer and wrapped the beautiful ribbon around it.  Because this ribbon is so substantial, I decided a bow would simply be too much so I tied a nice square knot and cut my ends to make nice tails.  I did use Tear & Tape to adhere this to the card base because the ribbon is bulky but it laid down nice and flat thanks to the extra strength adhesive on the tape.

And that is how simple it was.  You can add a nice Whisper White (or any color) insert with any sentiment you want and you have an amazing Christmas card that will wow everyone and only takes minutes to make.  This one is a great one for mass production when you need a bunch of cards quick.

I hope you enjoy this card I certainly enjoyed making it.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and much more on my website at https://craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by click the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.

Fun Fold Easel Card

I was wondering around on YouTube the other day and stumbled onto some videos from Teri Polock of the United Kingdom.  I loved her style and found a couple projects I wanted to try.  Well here comes the challenge, to figure out from centimeters to inches to get the look I wanted.  After some trial and more than one error I finally figured it out.  Thanks to Teri for some great inspiration.

The first photo shows the card all folded up and ready to mail, the second shows it set up with the front panel tucked under the sentiment circle for display and the third photo shows the card opened up.

This card has lots of pieces so it worked better for me to cut everything out and then stamp and assemble.  The card base is Bumble Bee cardstock that is cut 4 ¼ x 11” and scored at 2 ¾” and 5 ½”.  There is a mat cut from Bumble Bee cardstock that measures 3 x 4 ¼”.  There are also mats cut from Old Olive cardstock and they measure 4 x 5 ¼” and 4 x 2 ½”.  The Whisper White cardstock mats were cut from pieces that measured 3 ¼ x 4 ¼” and cut out with the largest of the rectangle dies from the Stitched So Sweetly Die set, a piece that measured 2 ¾ x 4” that was cut out with the second largest of the rectangles from that same set, I cut one piece that measured 2 ½ x 4 ½” and I die cut the smallest circle from the Stitched Shapes die (save the rest of this piece for some stamping we will be doing later.  I die cut the smallest of the scalloped circles from the Layering Circles dies out of a piece of 2 x 2” Bumble Bee cardstock.  And the final pieces are cut from the Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I cut the first piece out of the daisy floral design and it measured 5 1/8 x 3 7/8”, and the second piece from the old olive with the beautiful metallic design that measured 3 7/8 x 2 3/8”.

Wow, that is a bunch of cutting for sure.  So now let’s stamp.  I stamped the sentiment “hello” from the Beauty Abounds stamp set onto the top of the small stitched circle using Old Olive Ink.  I then stamped my floral flourish (from that same stamp set) onto the left side of my largest Whisper White stitched rectangle using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I stamped the larger of the two small butterflies from that same stamp set onto the bottom right corner of the second largest of the Whisper White stitched rectangle.  Now comes that left-over Whisper White that you had after you cut out the stitched circle.  Stamp three small and one large of the smaller butterflies from the collection and die cut them using the coordinating Butterfly Beauty Dies.  I colored mine butterflies and my flourish in with Stampin’ Blends (colors listed below).  Once I had my butterflies all colored, I shaped them a little using my bone folder and attached them to the front panel and one small one to the small Whisper White scalloped circle.

Assembly time.  Fold your first score line at 2 ¾” into a mountain fold and your second score line at 5 ½” into a valley fold (burnish well with the bone folder).  Attach your DSP to the appropriate mats and then attach those to the card.  Now attach the largest Whisper White Stitched rectangle to the Bumble Bee Mat.  This will be attached to the bottom of the card front centered on that mountain fold.  Now attach your little circle (mat the stitched Whisper White on onto the scalloped Bumble Bee one) by attaching a dimensional right at the top of the circle only and attaching this to the top of the card on the back that has the floral DSP.  Once this is done attach your stitched rectangle to the inside bottom of the inside of the card being sure to center it and verify that it will be hidden from the outside by the larger rectangle.  For my final embellishment I added three of the Champaign Rhinestone Jewels.  I know this sounds complicated but other than a lot of cutting it really is a pretty simple design once you figure it out.

I hope you enjoy this card I certainly enjoyed making it and I hope you will give this style of card a try, it is well worth the work.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and much more on my website at https://craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by click the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed5 ½”  below.

Celebrating Sunflowers Pocket Card

I have an amazing Stampin’ Up! upline named Karen Titus.  Karen has been a big supporter of all of our team and is constantly sharing ideas with us.  Today’s card was inspired by a card she shared with us a few months ago.  I changed a few things and added some of my own personality but I sure loved the basic design of this pocket card, it is so easy to change up using different DSP and other design elements.

The card base is Just Jade cardstock that is cut 11 x 4 ¼” and scored at 5 ½” (you will need to cut two of these, see photos below)

And then attach them together like this:

Now you need to cut your Designer Series Paper.  I chose to use Flowers for Every Season DSP.  When you do this cutting you actually end up with paper to make two cards.  So here is how you cut that.

You use one of each of the coordinating colors (one of the things I love about the coordinating papers from Stampin’ Up!  As you can see from my finished card above, I used a different set of papers for it.  The options are endless.

For the inside of the card I cut two pieces of cardstock, the first one I cut from Bumble Bee cardstock and it measures 3 ¾ x 5”.  The second layer was cut from Very Vanilla cardstock and it measures 3 ½ x 4 ¾”.  I did add a little strip of coordinating DSP to the bottom of the Very Vanilla that measures ½ x 4 ¾” and I stamped my Sentiment “Let’s celebrate you” from the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set onto it with Misty Moonlight ink.  Here is what that looks like:

Now to assemble the card.  You attach the two triangles of DSP to the coordinating card base areas leaving an equal reveal on all sides and then you can decide which side you want to cross over to be the front either the left or the right.  Once you have done that you will attach the bottom of both triangles with just a little line of adhesive (don’t go to large or your insert won’t fit).  Here is what I mean about layering the pieces:

Now comes the real fun.  We decorate our card.  I added some of the Bumble Bee In Color Ribbon and made a little bow.  I also stamped one of the small Sunflowers from the Celebrate Sunflowers suite onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I then die cut it using the coordinating dies from the bundle and colored it using Stampin’ Blends markers (listed below).  I cut two of the little leaf sprigs from the die set using Gold Foil Sheets.  I punched out a label from the Everyday Label punch from Just Jade cardstock and ran it through the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder just to add some texture.  I added the label to the bottom right corner using some Dimensionals and I adhered the gold leaf sprigs behind it and added the sunflower on lop of it.

I hope you this card I certainly enjoyed making it.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and much more on my website at https://craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by click the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.
