New Horizons One Sheet Wonder

I purchased the New Horizons Designer Series Paper after seeing tons of beautiful cards created with it both on our Demonstrator Planning Place Facebook Page and on Pinterest.  My upline also used it in a demonstration a few weeks ago and I was taken with its simple beauty.  One of the people I saw using it was Rachel Tessman and she had used it to create some one sheet wonder cards so I decided to give that a whirl today.    

Here is both sides of the 6 x 6” Designer Series Paper I chose to use.  I made two cards from one side and two cards from the other side.  I just added a few stamps and the only ink I used was Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. 

To start this one sheet wonder I cut my Designer Series Paper (DSP) into squares that measured 3 x 3” and I cut four pieces of Basic Black cardstock to 3 1/8 x 3 1/8”.  I made four card bases that were from Basic White cardstock that is cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.  I stamped my card bases and DSP as shown in the photos using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  Once everything was stamped, I assembled the cards by adhering the DSP to the basic black cardstock mats and then centering those on the cards using Dimensionals.  Further information for each card follows.

Card #1 uses the Special Moments Sale-A-Bration stamp set and the On the Horizon stamp set.

Card #2 uses the Special Moments Sale-A-Bration stamp set and the Sailing Home stamp set.

Card #3 uses the Beautiful Moments stamp set and the On the Horizon stamp set.

Card #4 uses the On the Horizon stamp set and the Timeless Tropical stamp set.

So Glad We’re Family

The Honeybee Home Bundle and the Heart & Home Designer Series Paper work so beautifully together.  So today I decided to showcase just how well they do work together.      

Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Basic Gray cardstock that is cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.  I added a piece of the Heart & Home Designer Series Paper that features the look of white washed wood (I love it) that measured 4 1/8 x 5 3/8”.  I then took another piece of the Designer Series Paper (this time a blue and white tile looking design and I cut it to 3 ½ x 5”, because I wanted to pop this layer up with Dimensional and I knew I was going to be layering more I decided to reenforce it using a piece of Basic White cardstock behind it that measured the same.  Once I had them cut and adhered to one another I popped that layer up on the card using Dimensionals.  Next, I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 3 x 4 ½” and I embossed it using the Hive 3D Embossing Folder.  This was added to the center of the card, once again using Dimensionals.

Now it was time to get busy making my embellishment items.  I die cut the grass from Garden Green cardstock and flowers from Fresh Freesia cardstock using the dies in the bundle.  I stamped the bee and the flowers from the stamp set in the bundle onto some scrap pieces of Basic White cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and die cut them using the coordinating dies from the bundle.  I colored them in using the Stampin’ Blends listed below.  For my bee I added some Wink of Stella to his wings (can’t really see it in pics).  I stamped my sentiment “so glad we’re family” onto a scrap of Basic White using Misty Moonlight ink and I fussy cut around the words.  So, it was time to attach all the pieces.  The flowers and grass were attached directly to the embossed layer.  The larger flowers, the bee and the sentiment were all attached using Dimensionals.  For the final addition I created a double bow using the Denim 3/8” Ribbon and added it to the card with a Mini Glue Dot.

How to Layer Daffodil Dies

I realized after I posted today's card I didn't show you how to layer the dies to build the 3D Daffodils.  So here is a picture that shows how that is done.  I hope this is helpful.

Daffodil Day Dream

I love the 3D flowers you can created with the dies from the Daffodil Day Dream Bundle.  For my card used some of the Simply Marbleous Designer Series Paper that I earned for free for making a $50 qualifying purchase during Sale-a-bration (which ends on February 28^th so don’t miss out).      

Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Basic White cardstock that is cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.  I then took a piece of the Simply Marbelous DSP and cut it to 4 ¼ x 5 ½” and I stamped the daffodils from the stamp set in the bundle all over it using Melon Mambo ink.  I attached that directly to my card base.  I then used the Scalloped Contours Dies and cut a piece of Basic White cardstock using the second largest of the scalloped stitched rectangles and I added it to the center of the card using Dimensionals. 

With the base all completed I got to work die cutting using the coordinating dies from the bundle.  I cut two of the full daffodils and one of the buds.  I did the solid pieces in Basic White and the overlay pieces in Pumpkin Pie cardstock.  I also cut two stems and three leaves from Old Olive cardstock.  I used Daubers and I inked the edges of all my die cuts.  I added Daffodil Delight ink to the white flowers, Pumpkin Pie ink to the pumpkin pie pieces and Old Olive to the stems and leaves.  I assembled my flowers as shown (note: on the full flowers I did add the center using a Dimensional for added interest and I did shape the petals before adhering them to one another).  To finish off the card I added a bow using the Polished Pink Open Weave Ribbon, I attached it with a Mini Glue Dot.

Painting With Inks

I used the beautiful stamp from Blessings of Home and I have been doing some experimenting with different ways to color in my stamps.  I wanted to do a bit of white washing but in this case add other colors in as well.  So, I used my Water Painters and some ink to come up with todays card. 

Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Blushing Bride cardstock that is cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.  I then cut a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼” and I stamped my flowers and sentiment from the Blessings of Home stamp set onto it using VersaMark Ink.  I then added Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and set that with my Heat Tool. 

The key to this technique is to be careful not to add too much water to the ink and cardstock.  So, with a little ink and water I added the color to my stamp (you can either push one of your small blocks down into the ink pad our you can squeeze the pad while it is closed and gather some of the ink up in the lid).  Using the Water Markers I started with my richer colors at the centers of the flowers and ended with a little Whisper White ink at the tips for depth.  The ink colors I used to paint the flowers were, Fresh Freesia, Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron, Petal Pink and of course Whisper White.  I was very happy with how it turned out and it was really quite easy to do.
