Quiet Meadow Watercolor

I really love to work with water colors and the Quiet Meadow bundle was simply the perfect way to go.  I love all the colors you can achieve through blending with the Water Painters and re-inkers (or just by grabbing up some ink from the stamp pads onto one of the acrylic blocks, so easy.   I wanted to make a special card using this technique for a special someone who loves butterflies and this is what I came up with…

The card base is Misty Moonlight cardstock that is cut 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”.  I then cut a piece of Fresh Freesia cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼ (hold off on attaching until we get the top of the card assembled).  I die cut several of the items from the Quiet Meadows Bundle from Fluid 100 Watercolor paper.  I began by wetting each of my die cuts using the Stampin’ Spritzer (it is much easier to work with somewhat wet pieces as it allows the color to flow easier).  I started adding color to the pieces, I used Misty Moonlight, Magenta Madness, Pear Pizzazz and just a hint of Garden Green inks and my Water Painters.  By blending colors while they were wet, I was able to create colors of my own, this is especially true in the butterflies. 

I then stamped my sentiment “Thinking of You” from the stamp set in the bundle using Misty Moonlight onto Basic White cardstock and cut it out using one of the dies from the same bundle.  I added all my flowers and butterflies onto my Fresh Freesia layer.  When they were all in place and adhered, I added my sentiment.  For a little extra interest, I wrapped some of the White Bakers Twine around each end and secured them to the back of the layer and popped the whole layer up on the base using Dimensionals.  To finish the card, I added four little Pearl Basic Jewels to my largest butterfly.

Heartwarming Hugs Treat Box

I am always looking for fun ways to package treats for the seniors I visit from my church and I think this one is just adorable.  I made them as table gifts for my last open house and the ladies loved them so I wanted to share the directions for making them to my customers so here they are.

 

         

Begin with the base of the box (I used Real Red Cardstock).  It measures 5 ¼” x 8”.  Score and cut as shown here:

 

On the 5 ¼” side score at ¾”, 2 ¼”, 3” and 4 ½”                             

On the 8” side score at ¾”, 1 ½”, 6 ½” and 7 ¼” 

Now cut and fold as shown here.  The dotted lines represent score lines.  I used a corner rounder on the top corners.  To make sure it stuck together well I used Tear & Tape as my adhesive.  

Once you have the box together you can decorate it.  I used Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper.  I cut a piece that measured 4 ¾ x 1 ¼” for the top, two pieces that measured 4 ¾ x ½” for the sides and two pieces that measure ½ x 1 ¼” for the two ends.  

I stamped my sentiment “It’s friends like you that make this season so wonderful” from the Evergreen Elegance stamp set onto a piece of Real Red cardstock (I had die cut this using the Tasteful Labels Dies) using Evening Evergreen Ink.  I added it to the top of the box with some Dimensionals.  For the treats I wrapped 5 Hershey Nuggets with coordinating DSP which was cut 1” x 3” and wrapped around each candy.  Enjoy!!!

Feels Like Home

I am sorry I have been away so long.  I have been pretty busy trying to get my catalog launch all done as well as traveling to Wisconsin to spend time with my father.  I want to take this opportunity to share three cards with you all of which were created using the Feels Like Home stamp set which is a Sale-A-Bration freebie.  The set is very versatile and I wanted to show how you could create several cards with completely different looks with just the one stamp set.

Here is what I came up with…

This is card number 1 and it is a very simple card.  The card base is Early Espresso cardstock that is cut at 4 ¼ x 11” and scored at 5 ½”.  I added a layer of Crumb Cake cardstock that measures 4 x 5 ¼”.  I then cut a piece of the Shimmery White cardstock to 3 ¾ x 5”.  I stamped the image on the bottom left corner using Black Stazon Ink.  I stamped the sentiment in the top right corner using Early Espresso ink.  I then brushed over my image with Crumb Cake ink that I had added water to using one of the Water Painters.  I added three little Elegant Faceted Gems and my card was complete.  See what I mean super simple.

This is card number 2 and it is also a very simple and easy card.  I started with a card base that was cut from Basic Gray Cardstock and it measured 5 ½ x 8 ½” and is scored at 4 ¼”.  I then cut a piece of Basic White cardstock that measured 3 ¾ x 5”, this became my brick background.  To create that I inked up the Brick and Mortar 3D Embossing Folder with Smoky Slate ink and then placed my Basic White cardstock inside it and ran it through the Cut and Emboss, this not only embossed the bricks onto the paper but also transferred ink to add to the look.  Before adding this layer onto the card base, I wrapped a piece of the Gray Granite Ribbon around it and tied a square knot.  I then cut a piece of Basic White cardstock that measured 3 x 4” and stamped my image onto it using Basic Gray ink.  I added that to my card and there you have another very quick and simple card.  

This is card number 3, and it is a bit more involved but still not very hard or time consuming.  I started with a card base that was cut from Bermuda Bay cardstock and measured 5 ½ x 8 ½” and is scored at 4 ¼”.  To that I added a layer of Cajun Craze cardstock that measures 4 1/8 x 5 ¼”.  I then stamped my image onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock that measures 3 ½ x 4 ¾” with Tuxedo Black Memento ink right in the center.  I added my sentiment to the top right corner using Bermuda Bay ink.  I then colored in the image using my Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers.  The colors I used will be listed below.
