Double One Sheet Wonder

A few weeks back Shannon West from Stampin’ Up! shared with demonstrators this great double one sheet wonder template.  By selecting two different two-sided half sheets of Designer Series Papers (DSP) you will actually have 4 different designs to work with and you can create 11 cards quick and easily.  Now since this template only uses ½ sheet of paper you could double up and create 22 cards, yes that is 22 cards with just two 12 x 12” pieces of DSP.  I choose to use a retiring paper called Mosaic Mood Specialty Designer Series Paper.  One reason I chose this paper is I wanted to use up some of my beautiful papers that are retiring so I can start stocking up on some of the new papers being launched in the new catalog.  Also, this paper is really special (it doesn’t really show in the photos) it has shimmery accents that are really pretty and make the paper actually look like it is a mosaic.  Plus, the best part is this paper is on sale right now which makes it a great paper to make up tons of cards with.

Let us start with Shannon’s template (you will cut two of these)

The first set of cards are created using the 1 ½ x 3” pieces of DSP.  You will need three for each of the four cards.  The best part is since you are using two different papers and each has two sides you have lots to choose from.  I adhered my three pieces to a piece of coordinating cardstock that measured 3 ¼ x 5”.  I added some different sentiments, ribbon and embellishments to each card (I will list all the stamps, punches, dies and embellishments I used below) you can mix and match any way you like to make cards that suit your purpose.   I then adhered that layer to a basic card base which is created from a ½ sheet of the 8 ½ x 11” cardstock, cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  Here are the four cards I made using these pieces.

Next I moved on to the cards that used the 1 x 5 ¼” pieces of DSP.  Again, since there are four different designs you have a large variety of options.  I made my card bases by cutting my cardstock to 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored it at 4 ¼” but then to add a twist I scored the front of the card at 1 ¼” from the right side and folded it back onto the front to make a cute fun fold.  I adhered one strip of the DSP onto the inside of the card and the other onto the 1 ¼” piece of cardstock I folded back onto the card.  I decided for all four of these cards to add some roses that were stamped from the To A Wild Rose bundle (the stamps and dies are remaining in the new catalog but if you like them get them now and save 10% by bundling them, they will not be offered this way in the new catalog).  This stamp set is a three-layer stamp so you start with your lightest color and then add more texture with a second darker color and then add the details with the third and darkest color.  I used So Saffron, Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody for the yellow roses, for the pink roses I used Petal Pink, Blushing Bride and Rococo Rose.  There are coordinating leaves you can also stamp as well as ones you can die cut.  I did use my Leaf Punch on two of the cards (sad to say this little guy is retiring too I use it so much).  I added sentiments from the same stamp set except for the Happy Birthday which comes from the Peaceful Moments stamp set.

For cards 9 and 10 I used the 3 ½ x 2 1/4” and the 4 x ¾” pieces of DSP.  As you can see from the photos, they were pretty simple to make and I chose to place the DSP directly onto the cardbase which again is cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  I could have added an additional layer to these cards for more interest but I wanted to keep them simple and show that you don’t need a ton of materials to make cute cards.  The sentiments come from the Butterfly Gala stamp set and the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp sets (the Itty Bitty Greetings has 32 separate greetings included in the set making it awesome for many occassions).  I again added some ribbon and embellishments and just had fun with it.

Now card 11 is interesting as it is actually almost a bonus card since it uses the four little 1 ½ x 1 ¾” pieces of DSP.  For mine I chose to round two corners on each of the squares (two on the top left and bottom right and two on the top right and bottom left) using my corner rounder, I just liked the interest it added.  I kept this card simple with a simple sentiment (from Itty Bitty Greetings) and a couple of rhinestones.  The card base is again 5 ½ x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼”.  I did add an additional layer for interest and it measures 4 x 5 ¼”.

I hope you enjoyed all of these cards.  I will list the supplies I used below and you can find the supplies for this card and many more on my website at https://craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog.  If you see something you love don’t wait as many of these items are retiring and some are on sale at this time and will sell out quick.
