Good Morning Magnolia Thank You's

I have been working on a series of thank you cards (we recently lost my father in law) to send to family and friends who have been so supportive over the past few weeks and months.  So here is a simple yet elegant one I made to send out (there will be more examples to follow over the next few days).

This card features the beautiful Good Morning Magnolia Designer Series Paper (I just love this paper) along with Petal Pink and Old Olive.  I used both petal pink cardstock under one of the sentiments and then old olive under the second one, I am not sure which I prefer, what do you think?

As I said these are some pretty simple cards so here is how they were made.

Create the cardbase by cutting whisper white cardstock to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and score the 8 1/2" side at 4 1/4".  Prepare the top of the card by cutting a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) to 2 x 5" and layer it centered on the bottom half of a Petal Pink layer that measures 4 x 5 /4".  Now wrap a piece of the 5/8" Petal Pink Organdy Stripped Ribbon around the card and tie in a square knot.  Add this layer to the top of the whisper white card base.

To create the sentiment I used Petal Pink ink and stamped off on scrap paper so I could get a softer second generation image of the magnolia.  (This set also has a sister set that is a small but powerful stamp set that includes the beautiful Thank You sentiment seen above along with a really pretty Happy Birthday.)  I used the Magnolia Blooms stamp set for my Thank You sentiment and stamped it in old olive.  I used my 2" circle punch and punched it out and then mounted that onto a piece of old olive that I had punched out using my Starburst punch (love how fast and easy it is to create with punches).  I added some dimensionals to the back of the sentiment and popped it onto the front of the card.  The card was finished off with a couple of the Rhinestone Basic Jewels (remember the key is odd numbers).

I hope you enjoy this card, all the supplies to make this and more are available on my website at www.craftwithronnie.stampinup.net

Introducing Good Morning Magnolia

Who would not love a card made from this beautiful stamp set?

What can I say, I am in love with this whole bundle.  I moved to North Carolina just four short years ago and I have learned to really love the south, especially the beautiful and fragrant Magnolia Trees.  When I saw this bundle in the new annual catalog, I knew it would be a must have.  I not only fell in love with the stamps, wow check out some of these beautiful sentiments, I also love, love, love the DSP.  Oh and the dies are amazing as well, I even used one to make some beautiful 3-D Magnolia’s that I will be sharing in a future post.  This set was just made for the Stampin’ Blends (even I look good using these).
Check out this beautiful set…

Today’s card was one that was a bittersweet creation.  I lost my beloved father in law last week and I promised my mother in law that I would create personal thank you cards for the many people who cared for Dad while he was on home hospice care, those who visited, sent flowers, made donations in his name, brought food and provided so much support during this trying time.  So this week I have started them and this set just spoke to me so it was the one I chose to use to create our thank you cards.  This is the first of several designs we will be using.

The card base is side opening (here is what I mean, this is the inside)…

I started by cutting a piece of Petal Pink cardstock to 4 ¼ x 11” and scored at 5 ½” to make the card base, I then cut a piece of Old Olive cardstock to 3 ¾ x 5” and a piece of the stripped DSP at 3 ½ x 4 ¾”.  Each was layered onto of the other.  I stamped the large magnolia using Memento ink (because it works great with the alcohol markers) and colored it with the Stampin’ Blends (colors listed below).  When I was done coloring it I used the coordinating die from the bundle and cut out the magnolia.  I then used the starburst punch to punch out a base for my circle containing my sentiment.  I just punched it out of a scrap of the petal pink cardstock but it would have been equally appealing if I had punched it out of the center of the old olive layer before I adhered the layers (this is a great tip for saving paper).  I used the 2” circle punch to punch out the layer for the sentiment from a scrap of whisper white.  I used petal pink ink and the smaller Magnolia stamp (which I stamped off once before adding it to the white).  The “Thank you” sentiment is from a cute new mini set called “Magnolia Blooms Stamp Set (I ordered this set because I loved the font on the Happy Birthday and Thank You sentiments included in it, plus this cute little set is just $14 and very versatile).  Here it is…

I mounted the Magnolia and the sentiment onto the front of the card using dimensionals.  I did add one small rhinestone jewel to the card as well.  For the inside I simply cut a piece of whisper white to 4 x 5 1/4” and then added a little ½ x 5 ¼” piece of the same stripped DSP to the bottom.  I think this is a very pretty card and I just loved the outcome.

Some fun with the new In Colors and Daisy Lane

I love how simple and easy these cards are to make.  Simply replace the Smile sentiment with Happy Birthday, Happy Anniversary, Get Well, you name it.  This is the perfect design to use to create stacks of cards.  I will certainly be using it to make a bunch for my church.

Cut the following pieces:

In Color of choice or any color you wish 8 ½ x 5 ½”, scored at 4 ¼” to make cardbase and two strips of that same color that measure ½ x 8 1/2”.  Cut a piece of coordinating In Color DSP 2 ¼ x 4” and a piece of Whisper White to 4 x 5”

Mark Whisper White along long side at ¾” and 2 ¾” on both the top and the bottom with a tiny pencil mark.

Using a light pencil mark mark from the ¾” mark on top to the 2 ¾” mark on the bottom and from the 3/4" on the bottom to the 2 3/4" on the top and cut along the lines until you have two pieces that look like this:

Glue ½ strip from one cut corner to the center leaving ¼” exposed and trim even.  Do this on all four edges and stamp the sentiment in the right lower corner using the same in color.

Glue DSP between the whisper white pieces and mount this piece to the card base using dimensionals.

Stamp two large and two medium daisies stamped from the Daisy Lane stamp set and punch out using the large and medium punches.  Curl petals up using a bone folder and layer as shown, add a coordinating in color faceted dot to the center of the daisy.

Now center the daisy on the DSP and you have your card.

I hope you like this design as much as I do.  I will list the supplies used below and as always they can be purchased from my website at www.craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by clicking on the shopping button at the top of my blog.

Rococo Rose Smile Card

Now I just love cards that bring smiles to peoples faces and this card certainly does that.  I created it in each of the 5 new 2019 - 2021 In Colors but I have to admit while I loved them all this one in Rococo Rose really is my favorite.

Cardstock:  Rococo Rose (150882) cut to 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼” for the base. Second piece is                        cut at 2 7/8” x 4 ¼”
                    Whisper White (100730) cut 2 pieces at 4” x 5 ¼”, 1 piece at 2 ¾” x 4 1/8” and enough                         to stamp two daisies

DSP:  2019 – 2021 In Color 6 x 6” DSP (149617) cut at 2” x 5 ¼”

Ribbon:  6 ½” of Rococo Rose ½” Scalloped Linen Ribbon (149704)

Stamp Set:  Daisy Lane (149325)

Punch:  Daisy (143713)

Inks:  Rococo Rose (150080) and Pear Pizzazz (147104)

Misc:  Dimensionals (104430)

Layer the DSP on the left side of the whisper white piece measuring 4 x 5 ¼” and cover seam with the Rococo Rose Linen Ribbon.  Stamp two daisies using Rococo Rose ink onto scrap whisper white and punch out.  Stamp the stem of the flower on the piece of Whisper White that measures 2 ¾ x       4 1/8” using Pear Pizzazz ink and stamp the sentiment using the Rococo Rose ink.

Layer the stamped piece onto the piece of Rococo Rose that is cut to 2 7/8 x 4 ¼”.  Using dimensionals place that layer centered on the card and then layer punched daisies on one another and place at the top of the stem.

I really love this card and I hope it brings a smile to your face.  The supplies to create this card and many more can be found on my website at www.craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog.  Just a reminder July is Bonus Days, earn a $5 coupon with every $50 order (coupon can be spent in August) see my post from July 2nd for more information.

Everything is coming up Daisies

First I need to apologize for being away so long.  Unfortunately, we lost my father in law this past week.  He was an amazing man and lived a wonderful full 95 years.  While he will be greatly missed I have found comfort in crafting this past week.  He always wanted to see what was going on in my craft room and he was a true inspiration.

So here is a card I taught at my monthly card workshop last week.  It is a pretty basic card and could be recreated in any number of colors.  I love the simplicity of it but also know with just a few more embellishments it could be even more stunning.  I just chose to keep it simple and pretty much intended to make it a card that could be used for many different things...

Cardstock:  Whisper White Cardstock (100730) cut to 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼” for the base,
                     and 1 piece 3 7/8” x 5 1/8” along with scraps to stamp daisies
                     Pretty Peacock (150880) cut to 4 x 5 ¼”
                     Granny Apple Green (146990) cut to 1 7/8” x 3 7/8”

DSP:  2019 – 2021 In Color 6 x 6” DSP (149617) cut to 1 ¾” x 3 7/8”

Ink:  Pretty Peacock (150083) and Granny Apple Green (147095)

Stamp Set:  Daisy Lane (149325)

Punch:  Daisy (143713)

Misc:  Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine (124262), Rhinestone Basic Jewels (144220) and Dimensionals (1004430)

Stamp ferns using Granny Apple Green Ink (I stamped first, second and third generation) in a circular direction from the center of the piece of whisper white cardstock that measures 3 7/8 x 5 1/8” and the sentiment in the bottom right corner using Pretty Peacock ink.  Layer DSP onto the Granny Apple Green Cardstock and then center that onto the stamped whisper white layer.  Layer all of that onto the Pretty Peacock layer and glue.  Wrap the whisper white baker’s twine around the card and tie a bow.  Now add the daisy using a dimensional for texture and interest.  Layer all of this onto the whisper white card base and add some rhinestone basic jewels.

As you can see this card could easily be created using any of the new 6 x 6" (or any other) DSP.  I love how Stampin Up's products coordinate so beautifully, they sure know how to make me look good.  I hope you enjoyed this card and as always you can find all the products used to create this card on my website at www.craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog.  Just a reminder July is Bonus Days, earn a $5 coupon with every $50 order (coupon can be spent in August) see my post from July 2nd for more information.

Stampin Up is not just for cards

I know, hard to believe but it is true.  You can use Stampin Up products for lots of projects and over the next few weeks I intend to share some of those here with you.  Things like scrapbook layouts and 3-D projects.

So here is the first one, this two page scrapbook layout features several Stampin Up products.  What do you think?

I used the new Daisy Lane bundle and the Butterfly Beauty dies to create this amazing page.  I purchased the Butterfly Beauty dies and stamp set several months ago and have used it several times to create cards but I always wanted to do a scrapbook page with it.  Well along comes the Daisy Lane bundle and I know it is a match made in heaven.  I actually cut several sets of these butterflies alternating the colors of the layers between Rococo Rose and Merry Merlot to get the affect I was looking for.  I did cut two sets apart to get my individual butterflies and I love them.

I do love the detail of the layers and when I cut them apart I could even bend the wings up giving them a bit more dimension.

On of the starts of this page though are the beautiful Daisies.  For this corner I stamped three of the ferns directly onto the page using Mint Macaron ink.  Then I started on the daisies, I just love the ease of working with a punch.  I stamped three of the larger of the daisies onto whisper white cardstock using Rococo Rose ink, three of the medium daisies onto whisper white cardstock with Merry Merlot ink and three of the medium daisies onto mint macaron cardstock using Mint Macaron ink (love that tone on tone look).  I then grabbed my trusty punch and punched them out.  I offset the layers and used my bone folder to give the petals a little curve.  I added the largest of the clear faceted gems to the center of the larger daisy and the medium sized one to the medium daisies.  I like how it turned out.

There are lots of ways to add texture to pages, these flowers and butterflies worked great but I also added a little greenery using one of the dies from the butterfly beauty die set.  Here's how that looks...

On the other side of the layout I wanted to try something different so I added layered daisies that were created by layering two medium daisies of one color onto two of the larger daisies stamped in another color.  I love the affect.

I also love how the Garden Lane Designer Series Paper worked on this page.  Well I hope you like this layout, I will list all the supplies used below, which can be purchased from my website at www.craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog.   Just a reminder July is Bonus Days, earn a $5 coupon with every $50 order (coupon can be spent in August) see my post from July 2nd for more information.

Shadow box card

So I watched a great video that was created by Jennifer McGuire and I loved the shadow box card she made.  It got me thinking about my Free as a Bird stamp set and how great it would work for a shadow box card.  So here is my card that was inspired by her video...

The concept is pretty basic.  I cut two pieces of cardstock (one whisper white and one daffodil delight) that measured 6 1/4" wide by 5 1/2" high.  Each was scored at 1/2", 1", 5 1/4" and 5 3/4".  On the whisper white I folded the first score, 1/2" into a valley fold and the second score at 1" into a mountain fold, the 5 1/2" score was a valley fold and the 5 3/4" was a mountain fold.  The daffodil delight was folded the same way.

I stamped the whisper white with the Birch background stamp in Sahara Sand.  I cut the center of the daffodil delight using one of the stitched rectangles dies.

Then I started making my pieces.  I stamped the birds on the branch from the stamp set and colored them in with the Stampin' Blends (of course I always want one to be different because that is how life is).  Ia also stamped several flowers, some leaves and one of the lone birds and colored them all with the blends (I love that these things make me look like I actually know what I am doing when it to coloring. I then fussy cut those pieces.

To assemble I started by cutting a piece of balmy blue cardstock 4 3/8 x 5 3/8" which I also cut the center out using the stitched rectangle die (a size down from the one I used on the daffodil delight.  This served several purposes, it gave me added stability as well as the opportunity to tuck my little bird and some of my leaves in between the layers when I attached it to the back of the daffodil delight layer.

I added my branch of birds to the whisper white back using dimensionals.  I stamped my sentiment on a piece of daffodil delight that measured 3/4" x 3 1/2" and glued it behind my front opening.  I then assembled my card by gluing the two outer flaps together (the ones at 1/2" and 5 3/4" and finished embellishing with my flowers, leaves, and pearl jems.

The card folds into itself so it fits in a standard A2 envelope but I would certainly be sure to have it hand canceled if sending through the mail.  I hope this description helps you to recreate one of these cards because they are really cute and a lot of fun.  This could be adapted to many of the sets sold by Stampin Up.

To find the products I used for this card and many others please head over to my website at www.craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or click on the shopping cart at the top of this blog.  Just a reminder July is Bonus Days, earn a $5 coupon with every $50 order (coupon can be spent in August) see my post from July 2nd for more information.
