I wanted to make a very special thank you card for a wonderful neighbor who has been there to support me and be my friend for over 20 years. She is an avid quilter so I knew what theme I wanted and when I saw the Ivy Lane Background and Textures paper pack from Close to My Heart I knew exactly what I wanted to do, make her a paper quilt!!
Here is how it was done.
Begin by cutting a piece of scrap cardstock (any color is fine) to 4 ½ x 4 ½”, draw vertical and horizontal lines at 2 ¼” (these will help you to align your quilt pieces)
Select three coordinating papers (I used the Ivy Lane B&T papers from Close to My Heart), cut 4 each 1” squares out of two of the papers and 8 each 1” squares out of the third paper (make this one the most neutral of the three for the best results).
Cut 4 each of all three designs vertically as shown below and leave 4 of the neutrals whole
Start in the center and work out as shown here (use the vertical and horizontal lines to keep the pattern straight
Continue to work outward as shown below completing corners with whole squares
Allow piece to dry completely and trim. Using an embossing folder of your choice run the piece through the embosser to give it that quilt like look, see below.
Card base was made from 10x7” olive cardstock folded in half to make a 5x7” card base. One piece of colonial while cardstock was cut to 1 ¾ x 2 ½” and stamped with the sentiment. This was layered onto another design from the Ivy Lane B&T papers that was cut to 2 x 2 ¾” which was then mounted onto a piece of smoky plum card that had been cut to 2 ¼ x 3”.
The quilted piece and sentiment were centered onto the card base and the card was finished with a pair of scissors and spool of thread that were cut from the Artiste Cricut cartridge (page 41 accent 3 cut to 1”) and a needle which was stamped from the Cross Stitch Wishes January 2014 Stamp of the month.
Here is the final product:
This project was made using the following Close to My Heart products:

Inks: Slate and Smoky Plum
Stamp Set: Cross Stitch Wishes (Jan 14 Stamp of the Month)
Cricut Artiste cartridge
