FLORALS IN BLOOM HELLO THERE

Today’s card features Florals In Bloom Designer Series Paper, Blooming Phrases Stamp Set and the Pressed Flowers Embossing Folder.  The best part about this card is that I created it using some of the products that are currently on sale as part of the In-Color sale running through the end of August.

Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Granny Apple Green cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  I then cut a layer of Timid Tiger cardstock (on sale) to 4 x 5 ¼” and embossed it with the Pressed Flowers Embossing Folder.  Next, I cut a layer of Granny Apple Green cardstock to 3 ¼ x 4 ½” and then cut a piece of the Florals In Bloom Designer Series Paper (on sale) to 3 x 3” and then cut that into four pieces that measured ¾ x 3” (watch the direction of your pattern).  I also cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to ¾ x 4” and using the Blooming Phrases Stamp Set I stamped “Hello There” in Granny Apple Green In starting to the far left of the paper.  I added the leaves from the stamp set to the tail of the works.  I added the Designer Series Paper and the sentiment equally spaced to my Granny Apple Green layer; I adhered the Designer Series Paper directly to the layer but used Dimensionals to pop up the sentiment.  I added Dimensionals to this layer and popped it up on the center of my card. 

For the inside of the card, I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼” and using just the tail of the sentiment I stamped a stem in Granny Apple Green Ink.  I added leaves from the stamp set and finally a flower from the set that I stamped in Timid Tiger Ink (on sale).  I did the same thing to the envelope.

FLORAL IMPRESSIONS ONE SHEET WONDER

Today’s post features the Floral Impressions Designer Series Paper.  I created a layout of one sheet wonder cards created with this beautiful paper.  I was having a hard time deciding how to use this specific sheet of the DSP because of the way the design was laid out on it.  Then I saw a video on YouTube where Cheryl’s Stampin’ Squad had used this paper.  I got to thinking about how she had cut the sheet of paper and realized with a little tweaking of the cutting measurements I could turn this into the perfect one sheet wonder by changing up the dimensions of the DSP and adding an additional layer of cardstock.  I was able to get 21 cards out of one sheet of this DSP with a few scraps to spare.  

Here is what I came up with…

 

Here is the sheet of the Floral Impressions DSP I used for this project.  Just think there are two sheets of this in the pack and that means 42 simple and quick cards with 10 sheets of beautiful Designer Series Paper left for other projects.

So, I started by cutting my DSP into three pieces of 4 x 12” going across it at the 4” mark so that I would have all seven of the different patterns showing.  Once that was done, I followed what Cheryl had done on her video and cut that piece down into 3” wide strips (NOTE:  Here is where the secret comes in.  As you are cutting be sure the pieces are going to all be one color.  There is a point where one of the pieces will have blue and green both in it.  When I got to that point, I turned my paper around and started cutting 3” strips from the Petunia Pop side and cut that and the Misty Moonlight pieces out.  That left me with that piece that I was talking about which had both the green and blue in it, I just set it aside to use on another project).  With these 3 x 4” strips all cut I then went back and cut each one to ¾ x 4” and started selecting the cardstock I wanted to use with them. 

The card bases are Thick Basic White cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  Then I cut a piece of cardstock (I just chose coordinating cardstock to match the pieces of DSP I was using) to 3 ¼ x 4 ½” and a piece that was 1 1/8 x 4”.  Next, I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 3 x 4 ½”.

With everything cut out I started to assemble.  I took the 3 x 4 ¼” Basic White layer and added my two pieces of DSP (one on each side) and my 1 1/8 x 4” piece of cardstock to the center.  I made sure I had equal margins on one four sides and between each of the pieces and adhered them.  For the cards in photo 1 I simply adhered that directly onto my card base.  This is the simplest of the cards.  For the cards in photo 2 I added the white layer to the cardstock layer using Dimensionals and then added that to the card base.   For the cards in photo 3 I added my white layer to my cardstock layer and then popped that up on my card base with Dimensionals. 

I used a mixture of punches, dies, stamps and embellishments to finish of the cards (some are retired) but that doesn’t really matter because you can use whatever you want to add sentiments to these cards.

ARCHED EASEL

 Today’s card features the Beautiful Gallery DSP and the Everyday Arches Dies.  I decided that an easel card utilizing these arched dies would be great and the Beautiful Gallery DSP was perfect for the focal point.

Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Secret Sea cardstock cut to 4 ¼ x 11” and scored at 5 ½” and 2 ¾”.  I then went to work on my arches.  I took one of the pieces of the Beautiful Gallery DSP and cut it down to 4 ¼” and then cut it in half at 3” (this means you can get two cards out of each sheet with 1 ½ x 6” remaining to use on another project).  I then used the 5^th largest of the dies from the Everyday Arches Dies and die cut it.  Next, I moved onto my Cloud Cover cardstock which I cut to 4 ¼ x 5 ½” and then cut it out with the largest of the dies from the set.  I also wanted a layer of Mossy Meadow so I cut my cardstock to 3 ½ x 4 ¾” and cut it with the 3^rd largest of the dies from the set. 

To assemble the card, you fold it at the 5 ½” score line in a mountain fold and again at the 2 ¾” score line also in a mountain fold.  I adhered all three of the die cut layers together and then centered that with the bottom front of my card base.  I adhered just the bottom half of the arches to the card being sure not to add adhesive above the 2 ¾” score line (note: I used a light pencil line on the back of the arches so I would know where to put my adhesive and then just erased it one I had the adhesive in place).  To finish off the front of the card I took a piece of Cloud Cover cardstock that measured ¾ x 1 ¾” and stamped the sentiment “Thanks” from the Impressions Abloom Stamp Set onto it with Mossy Meadow ink (remember you can mix and match sentiments from any stamp set you own to make your card work for the occasion you want it for).

For the inside of the card, I added a piece of Basic White cardstock that measured 4 x 5 ¼”.  Then I took a piece of Basic White cardstock that measured ¾ x 3 ¼” and stamped the sentiment “I appreciate you” also from the Impressions Abloom Stamp Set onto it with Mossy Meadow ink (you can use anything you want to work as the stand for your easel, a sentiment, a flower, you name it).  I adhered this to a piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock that measured 1 x 3 ½” and added that to the center bottom of my white inside about ½” up with Dimensionals.  This gives my card front somewhere to lean against so it stands up.

BEAUTIFUL GALLERY IN AN ARCH

Today’s card features the Beautiful Gallery DSP the Everyday Arches Dies, the Beautiful Motifs Stamp Set and the Damask Designs Embossing Folder.  I grabbed all these products which are a mix of items from the Annual Catalog along with Online Exclusives and all from different collections so I could show that you can mix and match most of the Stampin’ Up! Products which makes your crafting dollars go further.

Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Crumb Cake cardstock cut to 4 ¼ x 11” and scored at 5 ½”.  I then cut a piece of Pecan Pie cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼” and embossed it with the Damask Designs Embossing Folder and added that to my card base.  Next, I used the third largest of the Everyday Arches and die cut it from a piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock that measured about 3 ½ x 4 ¾”.  I added that to the center of my card.  Next, I took a piece of the Beautiful Gallery DSP (I love this nature scene it is perfect for a masculine card) and cut it to 3 x 4 ½” (you can get two cards from each 6 x 6” sheet with 1 1/2” left over which I often cut to ¾” and use on the inside of the cards) and die cut it with the 4^th largest of the arches from the die set and added it to the center of my Mossy Meadow arch.  For my sentiment I grabbed a scrap of Crumb Cake cardstock that measured ½ c 2 ½” and stamped “Thinking of You” from the Beautiful Motifs Stamp Set onto it with Mossy Meadow Ink.  I placed the sentiment near the left side and then cut the right at an angle before adding it to the card with Dimensionals. 

For the inside I simply added a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock that measured 4 x 5 ¼” which I left blank as this is a perfect card to send with a nice handwritten note.

FLORAL IMPRESSIONS ARROW CARD

Today’s card features the Floral Impressions Designer Series Paper along with the Impressions Abloom Bundle.  I am always looking for a new fun fold card to try and I saw where Lisa Curcio had made this arrow card and I decided to give it a whirl.  It was much easier than it looked. 

Here is what I came up with…

 

The key to this card is the folds and cuts so I am putting a scoring and cutting template below that shows how to score the card base and cut the Designer Series Paper for the front of the card as well as the Basic White cardstock for the inside of the card.  This template will be much easier for you to follow than having me try to explain it in writing. 

The card base is Strawberry Slush cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” (see template for scoring).  I used the Floral Impressions Designer Series Paper and cut it to 4 x 5” (see template for additional cuts).  I cut the Basic White for the inside (see template) and saved the two extra pieces for other projects (including the sentiment for this card).  Once everything is cut and scored you can start to assemble.  For the folds on the card base do each side all the way before starting the other and always push your bone folder toward the tip of the arrow (this keeps it from becoming bent).  The first score line that goes from the top corner to the center bottom is folded as a mountain fold and the second score line from the 2 1/8” mark is a valley fold. 

Once the card base is prepared add the large center piece of DSP to the front of the card and the two side pieces to the sides on the inside (be sure to leave equal margins around the pieces.  I cut a piece of Strawberry Slush cardstock to 1 x 2 ¼” and a piece of Basic White cardstock for the sentiment to ¾ x 2”.  I stamped “Thanks” from the Impressions Abloom Stamp set onto the white with Strawberry Slush ink and then mounted that on the Strawberry Slush cardstock piece and attached it to the front of the card with Dimensionals.  I die cut one of the flowers from the bundle out of Blackberry Bliss cardstock and the stem and leaves from the bundle out of Garden Green and attached them (I added Dimensionals under the flower and attached the stem directly to the sentiment label.  I added a single strawberry slush colored embellishment from the Strawberry Slush & Pretty In Pink Gems. 

For the inside I stamped the sentiment “FOR BEING THERE” from the Impressions Abloom Stamp Set on the Basic White layer using Strawberry Slush Ink.  I also added one of the flowers from the Blooming Phrases stamp set (I could have used one of the ones from the Impressions Abloom but I really wanted something small) in Strawberry Slush Ink and two of the leaves from the stamp set in Garden Green.
