BIG HUGS

Today’s card features the new Peace on Earth Bundle and Peaceful Gardens Designer Series Paper.  I love this set which is featured in the September – December Mini Catalog.  It is always fun when you take a set that feels like it was created for Christmas but you find lots of new ways to use it, which is what I am setting out to do.  I found a card created by Kim McGillis from the Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team and used it as my inspiration for this card.

Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Secret Sea cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  I then cut piece of Cloud Cover cardstock to 2 5/8 x 4” and embossed it with the Peaceful Greenery 3D Embossing Folder and I cut a piece of the Designer Series Paper also at 2 5/8 x 4”.  I attached these two pieces together with just a little tape to make them 4 x 5 ¼” and wrapped a piece of white ribbon (from my retired stash) around the seam of the two pieces (or you could use the coordinating Misty Moonlight Silver Edged Ribbon for this) and attached that to the card base.  Using the coordinating Dies I die cut the large label and two of the doves and one envelope out of Basic White cardstock.  I stamped the label with the sentiment “Big hugs for a good friend” from the stamp set in the bundle with Secret Sea Ink and attached it to the center of the card using Dimensionals.  For the doves I used a little Pecan Pie Ink and a Blender Pen to create the beak and .4mm Journaling Pen (for some reason I can't put a link in for it below but the item number is 166647) to create the eyes.  I attached these to the card using Dimensionals also.  I added one of the olive branches from the die set cut out of Cloud Cover cardstock to one dove and the envelope I die cut out of Basic White to the other dove.

For the inside of the card, I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼” and added a little strip of the Designer Series Paper that measured ½ x 4”.

I hope you enjoy this card I certainly enjoyed making it.  As always you can find the supplies to create this card and more on my website at https://www.stampinup.com?demoid=2206796 or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog or the link to the supplies listed below.  Be sure to follow me at:

SIMPLE SYMPATHY

Today’s card features the new Peace on Earth Stamp Set and Peaceful Gardens Designer Series Paper (DSP).  I wanted to create a card that used this suite of products for something other than a Christmas card and when I saw a card created by Heidi Collins on Pinterest I decided I would change it a little and make it my own.  Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Cloud Cover cardstock cut to 4 ¼ x 11” and scored at 4 ¼”.  I then added a layer of the Peaceful Gardens DSP that measured 4 x 5 ¼”.  Next, I cut a piece of Cloud Cover cardstock to 2 5/8 x 4 5/8” and added a piece of another of pieces of DSP from the pack that measured 2 ½ x 4 ¼” to the top of it.  I adhered this piece to the center of my card.  Then I moved onto my flag piece, the key to getting the flag portion of this piece cut evenly is to cut the flag out of both the cardstock and the DSP at the same time.  The Cloud Cover cardstock measures 1 5/8 x 3 7/8” and the third DSP I introduced here measures 1 ½ x 3 ¾”.  Once they were cut, I added the flag to the left side about ¼” in from layer two.

Now it was time for the sentiment.  I stamped the sentiment “With Deepest Sympathy” from the Peace on Earth Stamp Set using Secret Sea Ink onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock and then punched that out with the 1 ¾” Circle Punch.  I layered that onto a 2” circle I created from a scrap of Cloud Cover cardstock and the 2” Circle Punch.  Once layered these circles were added to the card with Dimensionals.

For the inside of the card, I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼” and added a little scrap piece of the DSP that measured ½ x 4”.

BEAUTIFUL MOTIFS FUN FOLD

Today’s card features the Beautiful Motifs Bundle from the annual catalog.  I also used some of the Party Dots which are currently on clearance (were $8.00 now just $5.60).  I saw a card that LeeAnn Greff had made posted on Pinterest and I decided I would like to make a variation of it and this is what I came up with…

The card base is Pool Party cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 7 ¼” and scored at 4 ¼” on the 7 ¼” side.  I then cut a piece of Pretty In Pink cardstock to 1 ½ x 5 ¼” and embossed it with the Damask Designs Embossing Folder, this was added to the right side of the inside of the card.  Next, I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 2 3/4 x 5 ¼” and die cut the white layer with the leaf die from the bundle.  Once that was done, I added a little Pool Party Ink to it using a Blending Brush just to add a little extra interest.  I used my bone folder to lift and slightly curl the leaves on the right side and at the top.  I die cut the floral image from the bundle out of Pretty In Pink cardstock and adhered it to the top left of my leaves.  I stamped the sentiment “Hello” from the bundle in Pretty In Pink Ink near the top right and then added this to the front of my card.  To finish off the front I added three of the Pretty In Pink Party Dots.

To finish off the card I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 2 ½ x 5 ¼” and I used the corner die cut from the bundle to cut it in the bottom left corner and again used my bone folder to work up those scrolls.  I stamped the sentiment “You’ve been on my mind” in Pretty In Pink Ink to finish off the card.  I also die cut part of the flower from the dies out of Pretty In Pink cardstock and adhered that to my envelope.

EMBRACE THE WONDER

Today’s card features the Light & Wonder Bundle, Lights of Aurora Designer Series Paper and the Frosted Iridescent Dots all of which are part of the Lights of Aurora Suite Collection new in the September - December Mini Catalog.  If you are like me you are always looking for something new to make cards especially masculine cards, well this suite is perfect for that.  I couldn’t wait to jump in and play around with it so here is what I came up with…

The card base is Azure Afternoon cardstock cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  I stamped the sentiment “Embrace The” from the bundle in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink at the very bottom right corner.  I cut a piece of the 6 x 6” Lights of Aurora DSP down to 3 x 5 ¼” (perfect for making two cards out of one piece).  I then took a piece of Basic Black cardstock and cut it down to 1 ¾ x 5 ¼” and then die cut it using die #1 from the bundle (see image below).  I positioned this piece right below my Designer Series Paper piece and attached it (I did leave the empty center to make it appear that there was a lake there.  (NOTE:  I used my grid paper to line up the cardstock and DSP to keep everything straight) The die cut will be a little longer than the DSP but that is ok you can just cut the excess away before attaching this to the card base.

To finish off the front of the card I added three of the Frosted Iridescent Dots.  For the inside of the card, I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼” and stamped the sentiment “Wonder” on the top center using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I took a piece of Basic Black cardstock that measured 1 ½ x 6” and again cut it using Die #1.  I cut this piece in half and used half on the bottom left inside of the card and the other half on the envelope.

PEACEFUL GARDEN SUITE

One thing I really love about being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator is all the perks I get for doing what I love.  I was blessed to be allowed to order this beautiful suite of products way ahead of customers and Stampin’ Up! offered it with great crafting opportunity.  I got to attend Creatively Now an online class where I got to see just how the products worked and I was provided with written information and video instructions to make several projects with the suite.  Today’s card features one of the projects I saw there but with my own take on it.  I hope you love this beautiful suite as much as I do.

Here is what I came up with…

The card base is Cloud Cover cardstock cut to 4 ¼ x 11” and scored at 5 ½”.  I then cut a piece of the beautiful Peaceful Gardens DSP to 3 5/8 x 4 7/8” (note: it is always best to start by cutting your 12 x 12” DSP down to 4 x 12” strips and make your cards from those pieces because most layers are 4” wide and the 3/8” piece left over from doing this will be used on the inside) and mounted it onto a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock that measured 3 3/4x 5”.  Then I wrapped a piece of the Misty Moonlight Silver Edged Ribbon around it horizontally and adhered the ends to the back before adding it to my card base.  I die cut the largest of the labels from the dies in the bundle and stamped the sentiment “Peace on Earth” near the bottom edge.  I attached this with Dimensionals to the center of the card.  I added a bow I made from the Misty Moonlight Silver Edged Ribbon to the bottom with a Mini Glue Dot.  I die cut one of the doves from the bundle out of a scrap of Basic White cardstock and added just a hint of color to the beak using my Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend Marker and a dot for his eye using the .4mm Journaling Pen.  I added this to the top of the sentiment label using Dimensionals.  I added a small olive branch cut out of a scrap of Misty Moonlight cardstock using one of the dies in the bundle just under the beak.

For the inside of the card, I simple cut a piece of Basic White cardstock to 4 x 5 ¼” and added a little piece of the DSP that measured 3/8” x 4” (this is what was left when I cut down my 4” wide piece of DSP for the front of the card).
