Double One Sheet Wonder

A few weeks back Shannon West from Stampin’ Up! shared with demonstrators this great double one sheet wonder template.  By selecting two different two-sided half sheets of Designer Series Papers (DSP) you will actually have 4 different designs to work with and you can create 11 cards quick and easily.  Now since this template only uses ½ sheet of paper you could double up and create 22 cards, yes that is 22 cards with just two 12 x 12” pieces of DSP.  I choose to use a retiring paper called Mosaic Mood Specialty Designer Series Paper.  One reason I chose this paper is I wanted to use up some of my beautiful papers that are retiring so I can start stocking up on some of the new papers being launched in the new catalog.  Also, this paper is really special (it doesn’t really show in the photos) it has shimmery accents that are really pretty and make the paper actually look like it is a mosaic.  Plus, the best part is this paper is on sale right now which makes it a great paper to make up tons of cards with.

Let us start with Shannon’s template (you will cut two of these)

The first set of cards are created using the 1 ½ x 3” pieces of DSP.  You will need three for each of the four cards.  The best part is since you are using two different papers and each has two sides you have lots to choose from.  I adhered my three pieces to a piece of coordinating cardstock that measured 3 ¼ x 5”.  I added some different sentiments, ribbon and embellishments to each card (I will list all the stamps, punches, dies and embellishments I used below) you can mix and match any way you like to make cards that suit your purpose.   I then adhered that layer to a basic card base which is created from a ½ sheet of the 8 ½ x 11” cardstock, cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  Here are the four cards I made using these pieces.

Next I moved on to the cards that used the 1 x 5 ¼” pieces of DSP.  Again, since there are four different designs you have a large variety of options.  I made my card bases by cutting my cardstock to 5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored it at 4 ¼” but then to add a twist I scored the front of the card at 1 ¼” from the right side and folded it back onto the front to make a cute fun fold.  I adhered one strip of the DSP onto the inside of the card and the other onto the 1 ¼” piece of cardstock I folded back onto the card.  I decided for all four of these cards to add some roses that were stamped from the To A Wild Rose bundle (the stamps and dies are remaining in the new catalog but if you like them get them now and save 10% by bundling them, they will not be offered this way in the new catalog).  This stamp set is a three-layer stamp so you start with your lightest color and then add more texture with a second darker color and then add the details with the third and darkest color.  I used So Saffron, Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody for the yellow roses, for the pink roses I used Petal Pink, Blushing Bride and Rococo Rose.  There are coordinating leaves you can also stamp as well as ones you can die cut.  I did use my Leaf Punch on two of the cards (sad to say this little guy is retiring too I use it so much).  I added sentiments from the same stamp set except for the Happy Birthday which comes from the Peaceful Moments stamp set.

For cards 9 and 10 I used the 3 ½ x 2 1/4” and the 4 x ¾” pieces of DSP.  As you can see from the photos, they were pretty simple to make and I chose to place the DSP directly onto the cardbase which again is cut to 5 ½ x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  I could have added an additional layer to these cards for more interest but I wanted to keep them simple and show that you don’t need a ton of materials to make cute cards.  The sentiments come from the Butterfly Gala stamp set and the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp sets (the Itty Bitty Greetings has 32 separate greetings included in the set making it awesome for many occassions).  I again added some ribbon and embellishments and just had fun with it.

Now card 11 is interesting as it is actually almost a bonus card since it uses the four little 1 ½ x 1 ¾” pieces of DSP.  For mine I chose to round two corners on each of the squares (two on the top left and bottom right and two on the top right and bottom left) using my corner rounder, I just liked the interest it added.  I kept this card simple with a simple sentiment (from Itty Bitty Greetings) and a couple of rhinestones.  The card base is again 5 ½ x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼”.  I did add an additional layer for interest and it measures 4 x 5 ¼”.

I hope you enjoyed all of these cards.  I will list the supplies I used below and you can find the supplies for this card and many more on my website at https://craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog.  If you see something you love don’t wait as many of these items are retiring and some are on sale at this time and will sell out quick.

My 6 x 12" One Sheet Wonder Template

I have seen so many one sheet wonder designs out there I decided to try out some.  This one is actually one I created using some card layout ideas I had previously used to make cards and then it was simply a matter of determining how to get the most out of my Designer Series Paper (DSP).  The paper I used come in 12 x 12” sheets (I love this paper and I am so sad it is retiring on June 3rd so if you love it as well be sure to order it right away) so I was able to create a total of 5 cards from ½ sheet (or if you want to be super-efficient you can cut two at a time and use up a whole sheet of DSP and end up with 2 each of 5 cards or a total of 10 stunning cards).  I will say it works best if you like both sides of your paper and the coordinate well (thankfully that is a strong spot at Stampin’ Up!) but if not, you could also use two different DSP’s and have 20 cards when you are done.  The options are pretty limitless.

Let’s start by cutting our paper, here is the template I created to help you figure out the cutting…

The first card we are going to create uses the following pieces, the 1 x 3 ½”, 1 ½ x 2 ¾”, 3 ½ x 2 ¾” and the 1 ½ x 1” pieces.  I started with a card base that measured 5 ½ x 8 ½” that was scored at 4 ¼” that was cut from Real Red card stock.  I added a layer of Daffodil Delight that measured 4 x 5 ¼” and then just fit the rectangles on as shown in the photo below.  I added a Real Red circle that I punched using the 2 ¼” circle punch.  The sentiment was cut out using one of the stitched circles from the Stitched Shapes dies (this sentiment is actually from a great digital stamp set “Share Sunshine PDF Download” being offered by Stampin’ Up! as a charity fundraiser for Covid 19, you purchase it, download it and then just print it out on Whisper White card stock and there are pages and pages of awesome sentiments so appropriate for this time).  I did add one of the adorable little Tropical Oasis Trinkets (there are a total of 24 pieces in the set with 6 each of 4 designs).  I just popped the sentiment right up on the card using Dimensionals.

For the second card I used the 1 ¾ x 2 ¼”, 1 ¾ x 1 ½”, 1 ½ x 3 ¼” and the 2 ¼ x 3 ¼” pieces.  This time I started with a Daffodil Delight card base that measured 5 ½ x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼”.  I added a Real Red card stock layer that measured 4 x 5 ¼” to which I adhered my DSP rectangles as shown in the photo below.  I then wrapped a piece of the 3/8” Real Red Cotton Ribbon around this layer and tied a square knot.  I then adhered this layer to the card base.  I die cut a piece of Daffodil Delight card stock and another of the sentiments from the Share Sunshine PDF download using the Stitched So Sweetly dies.  I adhered the Daffodil Delight right onto the card front and then popped up the Whisper White with the sentiment using Dimensionals.

Card 3 has to be one of my favorites.  As many of you know my husband and I were on our way to a Caribbean cruise (we were actually in Puerto Rico) when Covid 19 erupted and our cruise was cancelled.  I had purchased a fair amount of this product suite planning to do some serious scrapbooking when I got home.  But that was not going to be the case so as they say when you get lemons make lemonade so this card is my crafty lemonade.  It uses a single piece of the DSP that would be the one that measures 2 ¾ x 3 ½”.  I started with another of the Real Red card bases, this one measured 4 ¼ x 11” and was scored at 5 ¼”.  I cut the next layer from Daffodil Delight to            4 x 5 ¼” and then embossed it using the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder (this one is retiring and that is really too bad because it is a great folder) and adhered it to my card base.  I added a piece of Real Red card stock that measured 3 x 3 ¾” which I turned a little crooked (the truth is that as I was laying the card it landed this way on my stamping table and I realized I loved the look) and then I added the DSP.  I stamped the flower using Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto Real I adhered the flower using a dimensional and the leaves and sentiment using liquid adhesive.  I added one of the Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the center of the flower and three more in the corner.  You really can’t see it in the photo but in real life the flower is nice and glittery looking thanks to my trusty Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.

Card 4 is another that uses a single piece of the DSP, this time it is the 3 ½ x 3 ¼” piece.  The card base was created from a piece of Crushed Curry card stock that measured 5 ½ x 8 ½ and scored at     4 ¼”.  I cut a piece of Real Read card stock that measured 3 ¾ x 3 ½” and adhered the DSP onto it.  I centered that on the card base and adhered it.  I added the same flower, leaves and rhinestones we used in the above card onto this card.  I stamped the sentiment (also from that same stamp set) onto a piece of Real Red card stock and punched it out using the Timeless Label punch.  I wrapped a length of the 5/16” Braided Burlap Trim that coordinates with this suite around into a bow and adhered it under the sentiment.  Because the trim is so thick I had to pop the sentiment up by stacking two layers of dimensionals on the back.

So onto our 5th and final card.  This one is a pretty straight forward card.  The only thing on it that can not be purchased before June 3rd is the punch I used which is called Lovely Labels (you will be seeing a lot of projects from me over the next few months using this awesome punch, more to follow).  This card uses our final piece of DSP (no actually there is one little scrap we are not using) and it measures 2 ¼ x 4 1/4”.  I started with another of the Real Red card bases that measured 4 ¼ x 11” and was scored at 5 ½”.  I adhered the DSP onto a piece of Crushed Curry card stock that measured 2 ½ x 4 ½” and I centered that at the top of my card as shown in the photo.  I then cut a piece of the Crushed Curry card stock that measured 4 ¼ x 1” and stamped my sentiment again using the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I then cut the ends using that great new punch.  I stamped and die cut three of the flowers which I again used the Wink of Stella on.  I adhered two directly onto the card and popped the third using a dimensional.  I added four leaves (also from the same die set) that I just tucked under the flowers.  The red rhinestones just finish the card off.

I hope you enjoy these cards and find this one sheet wonder to be a great starting point for many more cards.  Stay tuned over the next few weeks as I start making cards using this one sheet wonder and more with some great new products being offered in the new Annual Catalog.  I will list the supplies I used below and you can find the supplies for this card and many more on my website at https://craftwithronnie.stampinup.net or by clicking the shopping button at the top of this blog.
