More Fun with Jack

As I promised I am going to show you another project I made using the Jack paper pack and this one is not going to be masculine.  So a reminder of the paper pack...

And now on to my project:

I decided this red and black checked paper was the prefect background for a fun Christmas layout.  The wreath, bow, flowers and title were all cut from the Close to My Heart Flower Market cartridge (I use this one a bunch).  I added some cute little Christmas Bears made from an SVG I found at KaDoodleBug Designs (I love them).  I also added some red glitter trim and some black dots to the flowers to add a bit of a pop.  On the bow I simply cut out a 1 inch circle and added it to the bow with a Thin 3-D foam dot for more dimension.

These beautiful 3 dimensional poinsettia's were made from the Close to My Heart Flower Market cartridge.  I love this cartridge for making flowers, they are all so beautiful.

He's a cutie isn't he?

And who wouldn't love him?

I hope you enjoyed this project as much as I did.  All of the products used on this project (except for the svg file for the bears) including all the papers are Close to My Heart products and can be found on my website at www.craftwithronnie.ctmh.com or by clicking the link on the top left of this blog.

As always, have a great day and Happy Crafting!!!

Fun with Jack

You know how sometimes you look at a paper pack and you think, I like that but I am not sure what I would make with it?  Well, that is what happened to me with this paper.  I liked it, was drawn to it but was having trouble seeing where I wanted to go with it.  Well, I just took it out and started and boy what fun that journey has been.

So here is the paper:

Hop over to my website at www.craftwithronnie.ctmh.com for a better picture of this paper.  Remember, this paper retires at the end of this month so don't wait and miss out.  I decided that this paper was very masculine and I had some pictures (from 20 years ago, I know, no excuse) that still needed to be put on pages.  These pictures was from a family trip (three generations) to June Lake California back in 1997 when our boys were still young.  They always loved it there, so much for a boy to do and oh that trout fishing was just great.  So I got to work, and here are the results...

I did use a cut file for the lake that I had from another cartridge, not sure which one it was.

These mountains and this title are from the Close to My Heart Flower Market Cartridge.

I just love these trees (also from the Flower Market Cartridge).  I used three of them on the layout and put them all on Thin 3-D Foam Dots to give my pages some dimension.  I also inked all of them using foam daubers.  Be sure to watch for tomorrows post using the Jack paper, and big surprise, it will not be masculine...

Basics Funadmentals

On to the fourth and final new fundamental collection for the new catalog period.  This is collection features neutral tones and timeless designs.  It offers patterns and colors that can anchor any other patterned papers - or stand all on their own!

So these are the basics patterned papers.

And this is the Basics palette, isn't it so beautifully neutral?

Now here are the five cards I made using the Basics Fundamentals, I am pretty pleased with how they came out...

This card used one of the small M sized stamp sets appropriately called "Thinking of You", these stamps are perfect sentiment stamps (they include this one, Happy Birthday, Thank You and Celebrate) for card making.  Just the right size and at only $2.95 they are a perfect addition to any collection, plus they are small and easy to store.  And as an extra bonus they work beautifully with the Go-To Cards and Tags kits being offered in the new Annual Inspirations Idea Book (see page 31).  I liked that this was made using the nice neutral gray tones and the silver shimmer trim really adds.

This card again used different shades of gray and a retired flower stamp set (but you could use pretty much any stamp set you wanted).  The sentiment is from the Happy Heart stamp set and again I found the shimmer trim, this time black to be the perfect addition.

On to some brown, this is the beautiful new Nutmeg and it is just beautiful  I added a little of this years "Color of the Year" our beautiful new Bashful and some cute little pearls.  The sentiment is from the Birthday Sparkles stamp set (this one has four great birthday sentiments and I use it all the time).

I became so inspired by how the Bashful (pink) cardstock went with the Nutmeg in the previous card I just could not wait to pair it with the beautiful grays from the Basics fundamentals.  I was right it is beautiful.  The simple addition of a little piece of the silver foil paper and a couple of clear sparkles really make this card.  The sentiment was stamped from the Sending Prayers stamp set.

And as I have explained before I am the mother of two sons so I am always looking to make masculine cards.  Well this paper packet is perfect for that.  Here a little addition of gold shimmer trim and some gold foil paper just make this card pop.  I will admit I do love this nutmeg color and I really love the Nature's Wish stamp set (I use it all the time, but just hang in there I have another new one called "Hunting for Words" on its way to me and you will be seeing a lot of it as well).

I hope you enjoyed these cards.  Here is some of the beautiful artwork produced by the talented designers from Close to My Heart using the Basics Fundamentals...

Now onto Adventure

Just as the name suggests this new Adventure Fundamental paper pack turned out to be a real adventure to create with.  I just love the patterns on this paper, they work great for cards and scrapbook pages.  Here are the papers...

These are bright colors with brushed watercolor designs and offers an artistic, playful feel.  And here are the featured colors for this collection...

Now onto the projects made from this paper packet.  I have made five cards utilizing these papers but I see many more projects in my future.  So here are my cards...

This card was made utilizing the adventure papers and the new Silver Foil paper.  I also used silver shimmer trim and the new Bashful pearls embellishments.  The stamp set is Birthday Sparkles, which I just love.

This card also utilized the Adventure paper pack (the blue in the background is an watercolor paper and just beautiful in person).  I also added some lagoon cardstock, white and gold ribbon and I used the Sending Prayers stamp set and the Beautiful You Stamp and Thin Cuts (which I am just loving).

This cute little card was made using another sheet of the watercolor paper (sure wish you could see it better in the photos) along with this cute little heart paper (there are four different colors of this).  I added a bow made from the white and gold ribbon and a couple of the clear sparkles.  I really wanted pink shimmer trim on this card so I just made my own.  I used the white shimmer trim and my Tender Pink ShinHan marker (you can make the white trim any color you want using a marker or watercolors).

I love how this card turned out.  I used a piece of the striped adventure fundamentals and added a piece of Pansy cardstock that I had embossed with the new Rose Embossing Folder (it is a beautiful folder).  I added the sentiment from the Many Congratulations stamp set and the flowers are once again from the Beautiful You Stamp and Thin Cuts.  I just added a piece of the Silver Foil paper behind the sentiment to set it off and a couple of clear sparkles and there you have it.

Ok, so as the mother of two sons I am always looking for something masculine in every paper packet and guess what these stripes are just the ticket.  I decided to stick very monochromatic on this project. The adventure paper with stripes is the perfect backdrop for this project (oh and it comes in this color, green, purple and blossom), I decided to use a non traditional color (Raspberry) for a masculine card and I am pretty happy with the results.  I just added some raspberry cardstock to back my stamped pieces, which are from the Nature's Wish stamp set (I have had this set for a while now and use it all the time, the trees are great on Christmas cards also).

I hope you enjoyed my cards.  Now lets take a look at some of the beautiful projects that were made by the talented designers at Close to My Heart.

Introducing Enchantment

As promised today I will be previewing the beautiful new Enchantment Fundamentals from Close to My Heart.  First lets look at the beautiful colors and papers and then we will dive into some of the projects I have made and the creative designers at Close to My Heart have created...

First here is the basic Enchantment colors which feature gem-colored hues ...

And here is the Enchantment Fundaments paper packet which offers a fresh modern look.

First here are some cards I made using the new Enchantment Fundaments...

This card features not only paper from the fundamental pack but it also uses our new color of the year, Bashful, our beautiful new Rose Embossing Folder and the Beautiful You Stamp and Thin Cuts.

This card was made with the idea of making this gem colored paper work perfectly for those masculine cards we all need.

I love playing with color and this card was perfect for that.  I used the Many Congratulations stamp set and just stamped away.  Then came the fun, I got to color using the watercolor pencils.  I just love how these pencils blend and make anyone look like they are a pro at coloring.

Here is another attempt at a masculine card.  This time I used that same stamp set that I used in the card with the pine trees.  It is called Nature's Wish and comes with a moose, elk, deer, the pine trees and many masculine sentiments.  It is one of my go to stamp sets when making cards for my husband and sons.

And this is my fifth and final card today.  This card is perfect for anyone with a limited budget.  I used two small stamp sets, Delicate You and Thinking of You both of which are just $2.95 each.  I did color the flowers in using my ShinHan markers but they could have just as easily been colored using the watercolor pencils (there are 24 different colors in the package so you can do a bunch of coloring with them).

Now lets see what the creative minds at Close to My Heart Corporate office came up with...
